    Audi S8 18" Avus Wheels + Tyres + Spacers + Bolts

Set of Audi S8 18" Avus Alloys (Gun Metal Grey) with nearly new tyres (only done just over 1000 miles 7mm + Tread left) These are in good condition, referbed by the previous owner of the car, there is some slight paint bubbling on one of the wheels.

    I also have:

    4 x 10mm Audi Wheel Spacers
    4 x 5mm Generic Wheel Spacers
18 x 50mm Audi Bolts (lost two but was using locking nuts anyway)

    £600 ono for the lot

Only reason I am selling is because I want to go back to original for insurance purposes as no where will insure me with them on without more than doubling my premium because of my age.

If you want any more info or pics jus shout!

    Nice looking wheels...

FWIW I would hold on to them as they are like rockinghorse poo...

Have you tried one of the forum sponsors for insurance? I Use sky and they did not bump my premium - even with all my mods...

I will keep the wheels on over the weekend to see if there is any interest, if not might stick them on the bay.

TBH I am suprised you declared them.

You drive a Audi which came with alloys, you have fitted some larger factory alloys, I know that is a modification but as their not non gen alloys there really isn't a problem.

The difference is if your car goes missing they will not pay out for them but then I expect you wouldn't claim for alloys anyway.

Strangely I did declare mine on the Avant and it made no difference whatsoever, that was through Admiral.

Insurance is a t*%t cause they will not pay out anyway they can. So if they are genuine wheels, even in a bigger size they will still try screw ya,Ill it money on it.......

Yeah had a friend who had a battle with the insurance company for ages over a small modification after they had a crash. Personally I thought the ride was a bit too hard with the lower profile tyres. I prefer the more original look of the 16s

In short without saying too much I had a mate in insurance and I was told that if their genuine alloys don't worry about it, basically just note that your car does run alloys which it did as standard and does now.

Thinking back on it the car in question did have a model that came with the same size alloys I used where as obviously the S2 didn't.

Its still a grey area I guess but hardly a performance enhancing modification which they do not like.

Where do you stop though, do you declare your non standard aero wipers and stuff like that ? as you say insurance will try to avoid paying out in some cases but I'd like to see them try it on a set of alloys.

You could also plead ignorance being that they are badged as Audi alloys, how many people who dont know a thing about cars are driving around with non standard alloys on without realising it ? Thousands I bet.

Yeah it is a grey area, especially when you cant even get all of the original parts any more. I suppose it is a performance upgrade because you have more grip and it makes the car more desirable to theft, I think I remember theft being the main thing.

Thing is they are hardly inconspicuous wheels prob would have kept them if they were 17" and silver

I'll swap you... Yours for my S4 Avus 17" & a few quid for the tyres...

                          As for insurance...

Just tell 'em thats these alloys came with the car & they look like stock alloys anyway... How are you to know every wheel option that the car came with in the car in the 1st place...

I bet you the upstart of a loss adjuster would not know the differance... Even if they did tell 'em you just painted 'em
