The plain diagonal striping is way too obvious!!! It goes in the same direction whichever angle you look at it, and it's a fixed colour stripe. I've seen enough of the real stuff in a decade to tell you it looks fake - and it would look fake from a mile, never mind a foot away!!

If you see a bit of bare carbon and it's a standard weave pattern (which it invariably is), if you move around it (or turn it in your hands) the striping effect switches as the light glints off the carbon filaments. You won't see the pattern the same way all across the part from one fixed viewpoint, either in real life or in a picture (if I can, I'll find and attach a pic of some real carbon stuff).
