    MD357 Turbo

As the title says Garret/KKK hybrid brand spanking new cost a small fortune
Induction side is 70mm where the hose fits over and 53mm in the actually impeller housing and 50mm on the exhaust side fits on to original downpipe and standard exhaust manifold but would really need a rs2 or better manifold to get the best gains
This turbo was bought initially to go around the 450bhp mark but was going to use it around the 380-400bhp
    Looking for £600 ono

MD357 “Roller Bearing” - Special .6 A/R turbine housing to take Garrett cartridge. High flow GT30 Compressor wheel, 0.60 A/R T04B modified compressor housing and seal plate assembly, Compact GT25 Angular contact roller bearing core assembly, left hand thread GT30 “Low inertia” shaft & wheel assembly, Recommended maximum boost level is 32 P.S.I.

    cheers Raj

Does anyone know how this compares to either the MD147 or the GT3071R? Specifically does it have less lag than the MD147 but produce more torque than the 3071R?. I have the MD147 at the moment but a few months back purchased a 3071R to replace it. Everything else is RS2 genuine bolt on (ie IM, EM, injectors etc)
Be genuinely interested in this turbo if it does the above
    Cheers

      Karl,

I have the same MD147 as you, and I'm also looking to replace it.. ideally similar / less lag with a slightly better power output. Interesting to read the sheet above, stating it's capable of 480 ft/lb and 404hp as my figures aren't that impressive, and if they were I'd keep it. It's making about 400-410ftlb and 370-380hp depending on which dyno you believe...

The MD357 is used by DJones, he is probably a good guy to ask for his experiences. If I recall, it makes about 450hp with quick spool (faster than 3071), not sure on torque though.

I'm tempted, but not too hot on Turbos....would this be a good upgrade from a stock RS2 turbo?

If you've got a stock rs2 turbo best thing you can do is get it remapped and a free flowing downpipe, it might not make pub bragging figures but boy the car sure is driveable with the RS2 turbo.

If you after 425 plus bhp this is a bargain

I've got a homefry on it at the moment and while it's nice a little 'extra' grunt would be good!

Its a great turbo and that's a good price but I would be reluctant to use it with standard rods.. it really does generate some strong torque, ask S2driveruk, I took David out recently on low boost (its already eaten one gearbox).

Torque comes in so hard in first gear it virtualy has no traction.

And 4bar boost sensor inside the ECU if it can safely generate in excess of 2bar boost !!!

DJ, at what revs does the turbo come on "cam / boost" so to speak ?

                        Thanks.

Nothing is going to happen to the rods with this if you control boost properly.
Perfect turbo if you want to map your car to the limit of what the stock motor will provide.

Also, you won't make 450hp without chemical octane boosting.

                            It made 458ps 633nm on a stroker I'd expect less on a 2.2 http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showpos...5&postcount=17

However lets all step away and let the man sell his turbo
