Hmmm what does the oe s2 spring rate at 1.9?? Would this make any difference fitting it??

Oem is rated at 1.4.

Otherwise known to hold 0.4bar of boost on safe mode. The 2.2 holds 1.1bar at safe mode

this could make a difference in a chipped car (ONLY, do not attempt to use it on a normal ecu), but from what i have seen, most motronic tuners eventualy stick with the stock spring instead. I use a 1.9bar spring in mine(vems) as i have gotten used to the boost configuration and reaction

Thanks Vasilis. Yes, it's not suitable for a stock setup. I got some overboosting with my 1,7 bar 380hp setup that was mapped with the stock wg spring. If you are going for bigger boost(over 2 bar) this spring would work fine if mapped properly.

For higher power and boost applications where more gases push against the wastegate a stiffer spring can definitely provide a benefit.

The 2.2 bar can be used just fine with the Motronic ECU also, but of course it needs to be mapped to work with it.
This is a good upgrade for someone who has a GT3076R or bigger sized turbo.

I found that the stronger WG springs offer better boost spoolup and a lot less WG creep. Is this down to the spring alone or just as much about mapping?

A good mod if you are running higher pressures.

Mapping can go a long way, just disconnect the lower wg hose if you want to see what even a stock spring can do (the ECU reduces boost by pressurising the lower chamber rather than increasing boost).
