RS2 Down Pipe for sale

Here is an RS2 Down Pipe tn_RS2 DP and Milltek 007.JPG that I bought from Ross see http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=53733 Since purchase it sat in the garage awaiting decat pipes. I missed getting Ross's and others so it sat there. As an interim I used a 3B DP with a de-cat and am now the proud owner of a custom 3" system built by those great chaps at Pipewerx.

The part number of this stock RS2 DP is 857 253 171 D. For the technically minded, Ross pointed out to me that 857 is a type 85 part number and a quick bit of research shows the same part number is used on some 200s / 3Bs. He found another reference on a German forum to an RS2 downpipe stamped with the same too. Important thing is it's 70mm and came off Ross's 370hp RS2

Looking for what I paid which was £100 plus postage.

I also have an ABY DP for £30 plus postage

Do you know the difference between the ABY and RS2 downpipe?

Yes the section between the flange and the Y is wider at 2.75" compared to the 2.5" of the ABY. Otherwise they are identical I believe.

Yes I was sceptical too until I got the vernier gauge out. I have got a spare 3B, ABY and RS2 DP so will measure up tonight, take some more pictures and post them up.

Hmm if that's the case I got a RS2 DP aswell

They are wider bore, there is also a subtle difference in the position of the waste gate pipe.

A Trio of Down Pipes

To sort out some of the queries raised earlier, here is a trio of downpipes showing the evolution from 3B on the left to ABY in the middle and ADU on the right.

So I measured the external diameter of the 3B one and it showed 2.5" (63.5 mm)

the ABY one and it too showed 2.5" (63.5 mm)

and finally the ADU one and it showed 2.75" (69.9 mm)

Then I looked at where the part number is stamped on the top section from the flange past the EGT and lambda holes to the top of the main pipe. Guess what? The part number (857 253 171 D) was the same on all three down pipes. The juices of deduction were running strong at this point...... Now clearly the down pipes are all different (the 3B one does not have a Y-junction for instance) and there are no other obvious part numbers visible.....so I looked at that top section further and it is indeed the same across all the downpipes but I can clearly see that the main pipe from there is larger on the ADU down to the Y junction.

The diameter of the twin cat pipes is the same at 2 3/16". Back from the cats, the ABY has a 2.5" system (on the coupe anyway) whereas the ADU has a 2.75" system.

Anyway, here is what you get for £100 plus postage.

So tempted but I only need the first 3/4 as the bottom would need modding to fit my UR. Hmm maybe I could turn into a twin exhaust system though...

Well this is what I had to do to the 3" SS DP from the group buy.......cut the bottom bend off to weld a longer 90 degree bend to curve round the drive shaft heat shield of the S2 and give the correct angle for a single 3" sports cat and system.

Anyway: off-topic but that's one option!

The DP arrived Friday just as requested and looks great, many thanks. The packaging was a work of art in itself, and I need to post an old UR downpipe this week so its getting re-used. Cheers John.
