I'm revisiting some flow numbers for the GT30R - from memory it's compressor has much more capacity than RS2, but the trick is getting the right hotside for best performance. Nicks car seemed to produce much lower power than I would have expected but I seem to recall there was some sort of problem on the day...
Thats right doug. Also i 'think' Nick was using stock bottom end, so low end torque had to be controlled so it didnt end up with banana rods!
I was a bit disappointed as well, but only because I could have prepared the car better before hand.
Mihnea only managed to get it to hold 1.6 bar until around 5500rpm and then dropped it down to 1.5bar. Anything higher and the ECU was retarding the ignition due to detecting knock. I've had a fault code since I bought the car for one of the knock sensors. Really need to change it ASAP.
Turbo dynamics rate the turbo for 32psi - 2.2bar, so there is definately a lot more to come.
Looking at the curves, the spool up looks fast - it starts to really climb around 2750 and has peaked by 3000.
Hopefully, once the sensor is sorted, it'll take a bit more boost....
Just reading throgh this old thread, what happened after you replaced the knock sensor(s)? Did it make a significant and instant improvement etc.? Any info appreciated.
