I see this thread has stopped altogether.

No surprise here. Prices are a bit out of sort. Especially for Fiberglass parts.

Does this Carbon hood really need hood pins to go fast?
who had problems at only 200 kmp or do you mean in miles? is that carbon hood safe to fit????{now i,m confused} . PLEASE MORE....?????
There are a few places here in the states that make carbon fiber hoods but none of them will garantee them past 120mph without hood pins. Some of the track I attend have straights that I'm at 150+mph and I don't want to chance seeing my hood stuck to my windshields as I come into a 40mph turn .

i know what you mean...that's why the hood should be vented...i may have some vents fiberglassed into my carbon hood....

I had that happen to me in a taxi cab on the new jersey turnpike. Hood flipped up and smashed the windshield. Not a good experience.

that's cuz cabbies have crappy cars and always need to add oil, coolant, etc...the cabbie probably forgot to latch the hood....

@NoNonsense-where did you get your carbon hood and how can you get the vents put in? Is it guaranteed to stay down to say....140 mph? I have the old flat hood and was thinking of upgrading to the b4 hood. Might as well go for carbon if I am buying a new hood, but this 120 mph thing has me worried.

Hey RS2 CQ....I got my hood from someone who bought it from Ubernugen.com. He crashed his car before he could install it, so I bought it. I don't have vents in it yet, but I may add them soon. Since I have my hood painted (i'm not about the bling...) I can have vents glassed in from below and repaint. It wouldn't look great from below, but it would help me rest assured about going 120mph on the track. I just installed the hood about a month ago, so I cannot say i've got over 120 to try it out yet.

You know, that was an option I thought of. Well not exactly, but I thought about having a plate machined and threaded which would be bolted to the underside of the radiator support, then drill two small holes into the hood. With this method, I could simply thread in a pin and add the other pin on top when I know I'll be going 120mph+. Very rare that I go that fast otherwise.

Sorry RS2 CQ...no luck with that one. I just replace my windshield a month ago after hitting a deer, hence the carbon hood too! I'm not willing to go through that again.
Have you ever heard of AWE-tuning? They have a B5 S4 and their CF hood flew up during a high-speed run at the drag strip...it fooked their windshield and part of the roof....

Carbon hoods *should* be vented like this for higher speeds and no hood pins:

Hey Joe this thread is dead. Shoyld start a new one about carbon fiber parts ..

Pro or con. I guess I was right about starting a thread like this and it sounding like a little much too believe. Referring it too screaming fire in a packed theatre. Look where it's gone.......
