I decided to sell the seats of my cabriolet.They are in good shape.Here are some pics.

If you get hold of certain audi 80 cabriolet brochures (long model run)these seats are shown in there.I think,.....not entirely sure, that they were only available in Europe. Never seen a picture of them other than the brochure so still a first for me.

Not shown in the picture on top of the front seats are built in half hoops,presume they are for crash protection?

Yeh i think ive seen these pop up before on ebay.de.
I also assumed that the headrest design perhaps contained some kind of roll hoop. The seatbelt is also self contained in the seat.
They must be pretty strong seats

They are the Pilot Sports Seats. They were also available in the USA. I have them in my 1996 Cab. 499 Euros is a great price. Shipping is something else. They are da*n heavy. They will not bolt directly into a manual seat cab nor into a coupe. Much fabrication would be required. Good luck with sale.

I always wondered and thought that they seamed like a very over engineered seat with the integral seatbelt plus the Strong hoop over the top.The hoops would be higher than the persons head sitting in them. The last explanation from Audicted takes all the guessing out of the equation with specially strengthened floor pan to take these seats. Must be specially built to withstand overturning. Clever
