People interested in BOLT-ON vented solution rear brake audi s2?

    Hello!

Just now i´m working on a solution on Audi s2/ 90 quattro for vented rear brakes. This is a bolt-on solution that don´t give you headaches.

This is a solution for the S2 coupe, not avant!

The part i will manufacture is a caliper bracket/adapter who will fit with these parts:

Rear caliper from Audi V8. (Girling 43)
300mm vented rear disc with 36mm of hat height.
    And my machined caliper bracket/adapter.

The handbrake should fit straight up.

I can bring a picture of the bracket in a couple of days, but i want to know if some people here on s2forum would be interested in this solution. Then i can manufacture a few pair for you too of course!

Will get a prototype fitted on my car first and then i can show you pictures! Will not selling anything that i haven´t tried myself first!

    / Rikard, Sweden.

    UPDATED 2014-11-08

    Hello!

I´m now done with the adapters.

They look really good! I´m was supposed to fit them to my car today but my garage did now have any power, so i didnt have any light. couldn´t see ****.

Just gonna check the choice of material once more, the engineer/cnc-operator at the place i have been at want to look on a solution with aluminium. But safety first, better heavy and strong than light and weak. And i will add paint on them to of course. But i wanted to take pictures of them before i add paint, you can see how them look better without the paint i think.

So if you interested of the adapters please write a PM or write here so i can put togheter a list. Those have already writed in this thread is already on the list

The adapters will be delivered with paint and bolts.

    Have a nice day!

    Rikard, Sweden.

All sounds promising. So you intending to do a group buy on the brackets?

What part number if you have them are for the calipers? Just to get an idea of cost there.

No, i´m going to make/manufacture them by myself. Going to a machine/CNC place today with my CAD drawing.

Its no bolt on solution what i know about for 300mm rear brake on s2? So i need to do them myself

Just wanted to see if anyone is interested. And will hear with the guys in which material i should use.

I think i will have alot of more answers later next week

I will be interested in a set of brackets.

The only options has been running Porsche brakes on the rear and having a stand alone hand brake caliper also on the rear.

But this should be alot easier and plug and play

There will be heaps of coupes needing this.

As I was saying about a group buy we get a list going to see who's all interested so maybe you can get discount from your machinist if the quantity is high numbers

Is that the 300mm vented disc from the B6 S4 by any chance ?

I already did a vented conversion with that disc without custom adapters as I had the disc machined to 280mm diameter and it worked with the same V8 calipers mentioned above along with OE rear carriers from an S8 iirc.

It was documented here some years ago. My conversion wasn't cheap because of cost of the S8 carriers and small headache to get discs machined... if your adapter is cheaper than the S8 part then it would be an interesting alternative.

Yeah, i think i have read about that.

This will be with original carriers from V8, straight from the scrapyard. And with original 300mm discs.

Will get some things sorted out today when we will work on my prototype. But will have alot more answers next week.

But this will be a cheap conversion, its my goal.

Too me a while to sift thru the old thread but here is what I ended up with - the lighter ally callipers from S8 would be better but they are silly expensive. I wanted to do something from 100% OE parts... your solution is pretty much the same except you get advantage of full 300mm disc by creating a custom adapter instead of the S8 carrier I used. All good !

My best word of sneaky advice to anyone looking at this kind of conversion - when you find a source of refurbished RR/V8/UrS4 vented rear callipers - send them your non vented old calliper as exchange and see if they notice (cough).
