Hi guys, ok here is a complete turbo setup I used on my URS4. There are a few “options” so read this through.
I have a GT2871r turbo that when removed had some minor chips out of the compressor wheel inducer, which I traced to a faulty air filter. So it went to crag at cr turbos and was fitted with a brand new genuine Garrett compressor wheel. The turbo was given a health check and fully balanced by cr turbos and is still in the box, were it has been since 2013 when I got it back!. It's a 56 trim compressor, the biggest one.

This turbo is enough to do 400-450hp. Quick spool, with 1.5 bar at 3k rpm and 1.7 bar at 4 k rpm, holding to 6k rpm, dropping to 1.5 bar at 7250rpm.
Its got a 0.63 AR turbine housing that fits the stock KKK style manifolds. It fits the URS car without any work to the air box. I have an adapter on the housing that goes smoothly to 3 inch v band for quick disassembly.

I also have a RS2 exhaust manifold that I used with this turbo. It wasn't leaking and on disassembly I found a crack on the turbo flange that doesn't “run” to the outside world so doesn't affect operation in any way. I had been using a exhaust gas temperature probe with this manifold and have removed it and plugged it off. Its 1/4BSP if needed.

I also have a 3 inch down pipe with matching v band connection at both ends. This fitted fine on the URS car, and should fit s2 cars too. It has 2 lambda probe sockets, one for motronic and a second for a wideband sensor of your choice. This downpipe is fine, free flowing and functional, but wont win any beauty contests. It has a small dent at the bottom where I bottomed out over a stone once. It also fits with the heat shield fitted around the drive shaft CV so it wont melt the rubber boot. You will need to mod the rest of your system to tie into this downpipe obviously.

The turbo needs oil and water fittings as the garret is different to the KKK, so I have a complete set that I got from 034 motor sport. Some of these hoses have been replaced overtime, because the 034 stuff wasn't great. Some hoses melted and leaked etc, so these have been uprated over time, and are now fine.

The turbo has a larger inlet than stock KKK setups so I the correct inlet hose that takes all the factory fittings such as MAF, diverter valve, crank vent and N75 will also be supplied.

And most importantly I have a suitably mapped motronic ECU. Not just the chips, a complete ECU with chips and 3 bar map etc. This was mapped by Paul, MR Home fries himself. It needs Siemens Dieka 630cc injectors at 4 bar. This setup drove great, nice and smooth and made great power. I did have the replace the MAF twice, but one was second hand so maybe was near dead anyhow. I was running a front mount intercooler so you would need one too. Power was arround 425 BHP with great response.

Now the options bit. I also have a GTX2867R. Thats the newer billet compressor turbo. Both the GTX2867r and the GT2871R run exactly the same turbine, just compressors are differernt. I can interchange the exhaust housing onto this GTX turbo and it bolts right in were the GT2871R did. I ran the URS with this GTX2867R setup for sometime. Maybe 10K miles. I was and am using VEMS now. BUT this turbo is close enough the the GT2871R that the map paul made should be 95% perfect on it.
The advantage of the GTX2867R is that it can make a fair bit more mid range grunt. The ecu will request less boost than the GTX2867r can do in the mid range so it should be safe. On vems, when instructed to, this turbo can do over 2 bar in the midrange! On vems I tested on a stock internals 2.2 20vt, with 1.6 bar at 3k rpm and 2 bar at 4 k rpm, holding to 6k rpm, dropping to 1.5 bar at 7250rpm.
I took both compressor and turbine cover off this GTX and the wheels are like new with NO damage and normal bearing play. If you had rods in your engine you could definitely make a serious torque monster with this turbo and a bit more map tweaking.

The advantage of the GT2871r is that the map was specificity done for it. And it hasn't ran since CR turbos looked over it. The choice is yours really.
So prices. I reckon that I would need £1300 ONO for the complete setup with the GTX2867R inc postage in the UK.
I would need £1250 ONO for the same setup with GT2871R inc postage in the UK.
These turbos are 900-1100 new. So for a few more hundred you have:
MAPPED ECU
DOWNPIPE
RS2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD
INTAKE PIPE
OIL LINES
WATER LINES

Here are some links to when it was mapped by Paul.
And angus with a GTX2867R in his URQ
Cheers Des
