    RS2 and S2 for sale in Italy

    today I bought "AUTO SUPERMARKET", the most popular used cars advertisement magazine in Italy (over 800 pages for thousands of adverts.).
    Found some interesting cars for sale (from dealers, which MUST give 1 year full warranty on used cars):

    - S2 Coupè, 1992, silver, full optionals (no sunroof), great cond., like new 6.500 Euros;
    - RS2, 1995, dark metallic blue , full optionals, blue leather, 91.000 Km, 13.500 Euros :eek2: ;

    Of course they are all LHD and use metric units.

    Saw the cars only from a small picture (dealers are one at 250, the other at 300 Km from where I live) but I've called for having some further infos on the RS2 (just for curiosity, cannot afford it even if it sounds like a gigantic bargain) and they say it is in really great shape with a full set of brand new tyres.

    Anyone interested?

    Marco,

    A ´95 RS2 for that price has to be F*cked up. That is too good to be true.

    Drive it. If it is OK, I will buy it and give you and you wife and son a dinner as thanks.

      You may be right, Rich. This is what I first thought as well. But the point is that since a couple of years dealers are forced to give a 1 year full warranty on every used car they sell, here. This gives some more chance the car is in good shape.
      What I can guess is the dealer has the car on sale since quite a long time and needs to get rid of it. The fact is that RS2 and S2 are cars that have never found a great appreciation over here, so they only have market among rare enthusiasts.
      One of the main reasons why Audi's 2.2L turbocharged engines didn't have a great succes over here, is that till mid 90's we had a 38% taxation on cars more than 2L (considered "luxury cars") instead of 19%, so that a Sierra Cosworth or a Delta Integrale where purchased at almost half the price.

        Advice if Wanted

        I bought my 968 in Italy 2 years ago, partly because it was slightly cheaper than buying RHD in the UK, but really I bought this particular car because of the near perfect condition the collector in Trieste had kept it in, a real enthusiast and fanatical about the Porsche marque.

        Unfortunately Porsche ownership hasn't really been the addictive experience I was anticipating, in fact it's a real bed of roses (all thorns), and I'm hoping to switch to an S2 next year.

        If you do decide to import from Italy I may be able to give some advice
        about the difficulties I had with insurance registering etc etc (just realised I assumed 91_S2 is in the UK!?) Just PM me if you want to ask anything
        By the way a good search site for Europe can be found at:
