I have just purchased an 87 WR engined UR and an ABY engine, gearbox and ancilaries. Now need to make a whole of the parts and then add the rs2 goodies. Anyone tried this before and has advice to give?
If not I will keep you all informed of my attempts!
good luck, most bits will swap straight over,i have swapped a couple to s2 lumps, wiring is biggest headache though, not so bad if you can get the complete s2 fuse box, engine loom etc..and go from there...
where you based, there is a guy near me with a 'breathed on' aby lump in a ur running 330 i think.

S2 fusebox is no different to the one in the Ur q. There are 2 boxes, early and late. The early one, up to approximately 1986 is missing a connection - terminal 87a. Later cars, from approx. 1987 have the extra terminal, but it's only used on the S2, RS2, 7A, NM and the 16V cars. The relevant wire on the S2 that connects to terminal 87a is black with a blue trace.
I have installed the 3B engine into type 85 Coupe quattros, pretty much the same set up as the Ur q. Not hard at all, should take maximum 4 days, as long as all parts are available.
