    V6 biturbo UR

Now I think I may have got myself into trouble before i have even started:- THe story so far

I bought an 87 UR as I had one many years ago and loved it. Got the thing and though the shape is still fantastic its like driving an underpowered tractor. So i went out and bought an AAN engine and 6 speed box to do a conversion (a cunning plan i thought) and i was happy. Then yesterday I was offered and bought the engine and running gear from a 2001 S4.

Now i think the engine and box will fit (if i change the EM's so as to clear the steering rack) but what about the engine immobiliser that is fitted to these cars (and i think is part of the ECU) how do i get around that?

One v6 biturbo urQ is currently being built here in Finland. It'll have custom EM's, custom this, custom that, pretty big turbos and Autronic.

I also know of a URQ that is about to be fitted with an RS4 engine set up. The installation (don't know about the ECU side of it) is being done by Kim Collins QST.

I will try and find out who is doing this side of it.

We're quite sure that all euro versions from MY 95 on have an immo.

Yup, all euro Audis have IMMO since 1995. The S4 had IMMO2 and IMMO3. None of them is too complicated to get rid of For good purposes only of course, now if someone comes and asks me for an IMMO removal out of the blue, he will never get it.

So, you have to hack into the chip then? I mean, is there another way? If so, what way? What do I need to wake the ECU up? Early ECUs had a seperate box for the immo, after 2000 they moved the immo to the instrument cluster. But pre '00, are they easier to fix or?

If I do a swap, due to regulations I need the stock ecu and I can't go standalone. Now, I need the ECU two times. First when the dealer writes a paper stating that my engine setup is stock, second at the MOT when they check that it is. After that, I can chuck it away. Feels a bit tough to buy a chip for alot of dough just for that. Isn't there any cheaper way to do it?
