I know someone will correct me but out of the 5 RS2 i've seen the best
a stock one will produce is 350-356 bhp on standard turbo but not
constant reliable power. and that is with everything running right.

The RS2 turbo is capable of 380 PS but the car needs better intercooler and free flowing exhaust! The RS2 Intercooler and Exhaust are a bit restrictive!

        Charlie,

I didnt mean to confuse things there. I was talking in terms of the RS2 turbo on a 20V engine. obviously fitting it straight onto a standard s2 setup 380hp isnt possible without further engine work and changing parts.

I beg to differ. The RS2 intercooler is good for upto 420bhp. Having said that
it also depends on outside temprature. A bigger intercooler creates more pressure
drop and more lag. I would rather go with water injection rather than bigger IC.
that way i reduce pressure drop, intake temp, lag and detonation and pinking.
But i do agree with exhaust which will help with quicker spool up.

If it was that easy to attain 380 ps why would tuners not have picked it up.
PS: this is not a critisim just my opinion and experince. Please don't be offended

I believe MRC have had cars close to that figure, i think its wringing the neck out of the turbo to achieve it tho.

What was Sal's car getting out of his RS2 Turbo before the makeover?

With the right bits and pieced i think they are able to make 380 and poss bit more!

Martin, before you go out and buy all of these parts.

do you have a budget in mind? where do you want the power band?

is the car being used everyday?

Has the suspension and brakes been modified to cope with increased power?

How important is reducing lag to you?

suspension and brakes is standart, but not very long.
i dont mind a bit of lag.

RS2 is probably a good bet, or a garret GT series turbo

MTM and Pogea Racing. I've also measured it on my own RS2.
Pogea have some very impressive hi-breed turbos made in-house.
                        All i'm saying is their is a difference between;
                        1) a theoretical 380 bhp as quoted on a website
( you might find that they use different internal components to KKK
that is what i describe as Hi-breed)
                        2) a one of maximum on the limit 380 bhp with all the right conditions
                        3) a constant reliable understrained 380 bhp.

I know what set up i would have. Obviously their is new technology
                        out their to achieve this.

                        I once had a 3B coupe with a massive k27/k28 producing 400Bhp
but in town it was undriveable. When the Boost came on , you better pray
you had a clear path ahead as it would snake up the road like mad.
Never again. I'm just sharing my experinces.

The problem with this pogea Turbos is that he does not give specs (compressor maps) for his turbos! Probably there arent any, so we can see what are these turbos capable for! I have contacted him a while ago and he told me: I have spent a fortune to find the best parts for my turbos so i dont give any infos outside!

The thing is, you need the infos so you know witch turbo to use and how to use it!

Other people had good experienses with the Garret GT2871 from 034efi! He managed to produce 374 PS and 560NM on a Dynamometer with a tiny Fan and air temp of ca. 30 Celcious and a relative bad ECU programming!

Everyone says that this turbo is capable of over 400 PS but on a bad dyno with bad ECU it can't do it! See the Torque Spike on the graph!

Here is the car on the Dyno!

I think we are going way off topic here and we seemed to have hijacked
                            this thread.
he was asking about a stock RS2 turbo Which is a K26. You are quoting
specifications of a Garret turbo. Different cup of tea.
PS: I spoke to Pogea on thursday about his stage 1 oversize IC, Latest turbo
spec and Sports Clutch and he was very informative about the specifications. I think it depends how you approch him but he has the right to protect his investments. Woudn't you?:mischeif:
                            .
S2martin i hope your project works out and sorry for the hijack.

I wouldn't mind full boost at 6000 rpm as long as I could have full boost at 3000 rpm too.
