I originally was going to make them but I figured I'd let the 034 guys scratch they're heads and make them for me. I ordered them in february but will be getting them very soon. They're mounted using the stock frame rail mounts, but I've deleted the stock oil cooler and filter and i'm using a remote mount filter setup and oil cooler setup. I haven't mocked up the oil lines yet because I'm waiting on the mounts. Once the mounts come in the downpipes and front engine mount will be made and so on. For now I work on all the small things. The stock oil filter and cooler housing won't work with the stock frame rail mounts and i've heard some mixed emotions about how well the stock oil cooler holds up on that engine. The plastic nipple with the two O rings leaks alot on alot of the cars. I'm seemingly going to build a few of these v8 swap i suspect in the future. I will be keeping the stock oil filter and cooler but most of the swaps will be in 90 v6 quattro that have mounts that bolt into the frame rails. I will change the way the frame rails mount work vs keeping the stock setup. I've seen both by the way. I've seen a few who have mounted the engine to the subframe and i've seen a few have mounted it to the subframe. I was too nervous to mount it to the subframe and I was also too nervous to hack up the old mounts and weld in new ones. I'm also not hard mounting it. I wanted it to be new england/rhode island road friendly and the only way I could see that happening is to use stock audi mounts.

Sorry about the excessive typing but that's the story.
I chose not to choose life: I chose something else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who need reasons when you've got quattro?

Nice work your doing there, Wab.

@ Josh: What flywheel did you use?
I'm doing a similar project, but had to have a flywheel custom made.

3.6L OEM steel flywheel. I'm not looking for anything too crazy with this swap. I'm running it motronic but i've got a 60-2 on the front crank pulley setup. Hopefully things work out. motronic might be a temporary solution but should work out for now.

                Sounds good.

I'm using VEMS for mine, had a custom steel flywheel made for it, using the OEM automatic flexiplate as a template.

Has the 60-2 teeth machined into it, so no need for trigger wheel on the front of the crank.

                Mine's going into a B5 A4 Quattro Sport.

Does your car run trip computer, and are you able to retain its functions?

The o1A transmission has mounting bosses for the sensors but with the v8 mounted the v8 is in the way of them. That's why I ran the 60-2 on the front pulley. My car came with the trip functions but i doubt I will get it to work.

                            And Josh?
Getting closer, The front radiator setup, fans, and oil cooler setup is just about done (just need to plumb the lines) To do what I wanted took alot of time to figure out and not make it overly complicated( I wanted everything to fit behind a coupe quattro european bumper, and later down the road a 98+ cabriolet bumper). The v-bands are on the exhaust manifolds, some more of the brake issuses and fuel issues are figured out. I swapped over most of the car to JIC/AN fittings. Learning about it, and getting the right tools tooks some time, and getting the right fittings and right ideas took even more time but i'm very close to where I want to be with all the fab work. Not to mention where to buy what I wanted. I found pretty much all my websites that I've stayed faithful too, and slowly but surely things are coming together. I could of rushed things a bit but in the end if I did I'd still be waiting for parts. So i'm going really slow with it, and i'm open to changing my mind on things (which i've done quite a bit). This being said, i'm 95% happy with all my solutions.

Part of the problem, is that i'm working with a American based coupe quattro 20v 7a car. I've swapped over to 1993+ 90 quattro headlight harness, radiator harness, vacuum assist brakes, cable controlled heat setup, power steering tank, etc.

Part of the problem is "me" too. I didn't have too, but at the same point why not do alot of things I'm doing with the car. Stuff like putting 1200 degree heat sleeving over the welding cable in the engine bay, or heat shrink sleeving on the majority of all my braided lines. Finding stuff too, and then waiting for it doesn't help either.

It's getting there, and when it's done it will be safe and somewhat of a simpler and better built car than the stock coupe quattro.

here's some of the stuff i'm working on. The front is allmost done, The lower radiator support is still in it's prototype stage, the lower crossmember will need adapter plates for more mount hole positions, the oil cooler needs mounts and An fittings welded on it, it needs oil cooler lines figure out, and the top radiator mounts need to be finished, but all in all a radiator, two fans, and one oil cooler all fit behind a european coupe quattro bumper without any issues. Some day I want to get a cabriolet 98+ bumper but that will work too and it might be a bit more air friendly with the mercedes oil cooler. 2.25" inch v-bands on the exhaust manifolds, and some of my current battery/wiring stuff and a braided stainless steel PTFE fuel line with 37 degree jic fittings in stainless steel and a high temp heat shrink moisture resistance covering. That line goes from the tank to the fuel filter. The tank and fuel filter have metric to 37 degree adapter fittings.
