  • ABY to ADU Project

    Right the cats out the bag i've been planning and buying since the turn of the year on converting my ABY to ADU spec

    Sourced to date:

    - RS2 Turbo + RS2 EM
    - RS2 IC + Crossmember
    - RS2 Injectors & RS2 FPR
    - Bosch 044 fuel pump
    - RS2 airbox
    - Samco water and boost hoses
    - RS2 front grill
    - RS2 exhaust Cam
    - RS2 cam sprocket
    - Sports Exhaust

    Chassis:

    - Porsche Monoblock front brakes 304 discs
    - Bilstein B6 shocks
    - Whiteline RARB
    - RS2 FARB
    - Forged front wishbones

    Exterior:

    - S8 alloys with 225/40/18 Continental Contact Sport 2
    - Extreme HID kit from VAG parts

    To source when funds allow:

    - Superflex bushes
    - Uprated bushes for forged wishbones (non powerflex)
    - Uprated Clutch for Dual mass flywheel
    - Head porting and new cutback valves
    - MRC remap
    - RS6 front brakes
    - New 034 coil packs

    What i need is some advice on what uprated clutch to get that allows me to keep the dual mass, failing that give in and go to a 3B flywheel

      So i'm not the only one with a parts collection in the closet :mischeif:

      Whats different with the RS2 FPR? ...must have missed that one

      Dump the dual mass, you know it makes sense, when you have them side by side its a no brainer.

        Ask Aelred if you want info on Clutchnet products or Corey if you want info on Spec units. Other options are Precision Clutch, Sachs, etc..

          I know you won a set of forged wishbones that i outbid you on but my IE crashed when i hit submit bid

          No matter i found another set

          Higher rating than the ABY one, you can use a 7A one, they are about £5-15 2nd hand.

          I got a complete RS2 fuel rail with all the connectors and injectors.

            Would be interested to know on the clutch situation, I smelt clutch after one on 1/4 mile.

            Im not sure the RS2 exhaust cam is any different to the S2 one though?

              LOL thats what you get for using IE

              I actually bought two sets, the first two i bought were different so i ended up with one arm off a ur-quattro ...i assume you are talking about the second set which was quite recent?

              Is the RS2 FPR 4 bar too? i thought only the 3b engine had a lower rating?

              Cheers,

              Mark.

                  It was from a seller in germany and it was recent couple of weeks to a month.

                  RS2 FPR is 3.8 bar IIRC i don't know what the ABY one is i'll have to do a search:

                  http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthr...hlight=FPR+bar

                  http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthr...hlight=FPR+bar

                  3B = 3 Bar
                  ABY = 4 Bar
                  RS2 = 3.8 Bar

                  Wonder why the RS2 FPR was backed off?

                            Nope everybody ditches the dual mass for the 3B flywheel, i just can't bring myself to do that

                            Mihnea recommends an LUK clutch but other than that most people ditch the dual mass.

                              The dual mass gets ditched because it weighs too much and when it breaks it will set you back £765.73 + VAT!!!

                              I made the mistake of fitting a new OE clutch to mine only to have the dual mass goe south after a couple of thousand more miles. Two bills to remove the gearbox is not fun

                              Lightweight alloy all the way. You should have had a go revving mine at GTi the difference between ABY dual mass and Alloy is a world apart.
