    Advice Required !

    Hi all,
I have a RS2 for approx 2 yrs and feel its time for a bit more Go !
    I am toying with the following options ;

    1) MRC custom remap ( approx 360 Bhp / 500 Nm with reduced lag )
    2) Hybrid K26/27 ( with #8 ) turbo, to approx 420 Bhp & 500 Nm torque ( on stock
bottom end ) with custom remap by MRC ( more lag then std RS2, boost @
    approx 4 k rpm )
    3) Garrett Gt 2871 turbo ( apparently same output as k26/27 ) with custom remap
by Quattronics ( Boost @ approx 3 K rpm, little or no lag, what about top end ).

I have recieved conflicting views on each of the above turbo's and am looking for advice / comments from anyone who has BTDT.
Mod's to date incl Big Reds, Samco's (boost & coolant, Tks Paul) and decatted milltek.
    Any help appreciated !
Also, a friend has an ABY S2, would the above options suit ?

    Thanks
    John.

Forget the 2871 and go for the 3071 on the S2, same lag (just slightly more than an K24 and quicker than the RS2 unit) and more bhp output will pull too redline. With decent injecotrs it's an easy 450 bhp.

You have to have the 2871 precisely mapped to avoid surging as it's too damn good a low rpms

      Hi Jamo,
Thanks for input. The 3071 boosts @ 3k rpm approx, which, as you say, is quicker than std RS2 and alot quicker the K26/27 !.

It would make my decision easier if a could get a spin in a couple of modded S/RS2's, however there are very little S/RS2's here in Ireland, let alone tweaked ones! So trying to gather as much info from those btdt / in the know.
Any recommendation's on who to use for supply, installation & set up ( in Uk ) ?

      Regards,
      John.

        Try forum sponsors.

Speark to Corey for the turbo and MRC for mapping, if they are too busy to do the mechanical work speak to Audiman

        Think that about covers it.

@Bigboot - we are long overdue a little S2/RS2 gathering over here... I've got some RS2 software you could try that will give you a taste of the MRC treatment. I can't sell you that but it will help you decide. The MRC boys come highly recommended and you'll spend a lot less money than the other options. I personally wouldn't bother with the K26/27/29 route - spend a lil more for the GT30R and you'll get less lag, better efficiency and higher performance. Tis expensive though.

I definitely have a software upgrade that you friend with the ABY engine will like - does 270-280bhp on Optimax but can't reach that with the excuse for juice we get here. Prolly take 10% off that for regular 95RON fuel... But a stock S2 runs at about 10% less than stated 230bhp on the same juice anyway - you get the idea.

Not wishing to hijack the thread here, but seeing as we are at opposite ends of the island its maybe time to meetup somewhere in the middle. I've also been unable to meetup with mcandmar & diesel_des so far... just been ridiculously busy with work of late. There's a guy I know with a UrS4 that would probably be keen to meet up as well - he's not on the forum. I tweaked his ECU last year (or the year before).

Hows about we pick a date - say late september for a lil get together ? I don't really care where as long as its not in the depths of Dublin where I'll got lost in minutes (assuming I don't die of boredom being stuck in Dub traffic).

Let me know what you think and I'll chase the other lads - figure if I commit to something then I'll just have to make time for it to happen

What do people each option would cost, would be good to get an idea of the bhp/pound upgrade routes that are available.

              Thanks,

                @ Jamo - Cheers !

@ Scentral - Definitely up for a meet, probably not in RS2 ( intend to take off road in a week or two to renew all bushes, subframe mounts & suspension before i go on the slippery slope of more power ! ), gives me a good excuse to dust off the ur q.
Once i have plenty of notice most w/ends would suit, anywhere around Dublin outskirts would be fine, this is David's ( friend with S2 ) territory so he should know a suitable spot.

@ Richslay - Will let you know costs once i decide what option to go for.

                Cheers
                John.

                  Irish Meet? & Power Steps?

Definitly up for a meet and all the better, for me, if it's near Dublin, but anywhere on the Island suits. Would be keen to see and experience what others have done.

Set the time and the date and I can nominate a suitable place depending on people's requirements?

Anymore info on say the generally agreed/recommended first, second, third etc. steps/stages/phases of increasing the BHP and torque for both an ABY Avant S2 and an RS2, with particular emphasis on early torque and keeping lag to a minimum, would greatly appreciated by both us and presumably others watching from the sidelines?

                  Thanks !

                  David in Dublin.

I'd be up for meeting up in Ireland. I'm based in Dublin, but could travel. I've never even seen another S2, let alone looked inside one.

                    Good plan

Does a KKK 26/27 with only a #8 housing really build up to 420 hp? Then the head has got to be ported and you need a really good camprofile and tune I've heard that with the #10 exhaust you can have about 450-470.

I assume you want experiences as per performance upgrades?? If so, I'm sure there'll be plenty of views - mostly along the ways of "forget it till the brakes and suspension are sorted"!! It'll also depend how far you wanna go with the power, if you want the low-end torque etc. You can have quite a few expensive steps to upgrading power before actually adding a bigger turbo. This is the route I've taken:

Done @ purchase - samco boost hoses, 7A ex cam, 996's up front, with remap to 300ish bhp.

2nd step (done) - Suspension, 3" turbo-back system, Engine rebuild to RS2-spec with forged conrods, Forge Diverter Valve.

3rd step (still to be done!) - RS2-IC, RS2-Injectors, GT3071, with custom remap.

I think if you wanna do it in stages: sort brakes, suspension, hoses + DV, engine components, and then IC + Inj + turbo - with a remap to finish.

                              Cheers
