I'd gladly have the big bad one, but I am afraid I do not have technical expertise of Martin in order to fit it

Btw. What size are RS2 intercooler inlet and outlet pipes?

Just because the intercooler is the same size doesn't mean it works at the same effeciency.

Little update on the progress.. I've got all RS2 parts for upgrade. Thanks to Javad from 034 motorsport and Martyn from Vag parts and of course to my wallet The engine is now being rebuilt. In the meantime I installed V8 rear torsen diff and Koni shocks. One EDU gearbox is also goofing around waiting to be installed Some samcos just arrived too. Everything looks good.

In the meantime was witnessing one URquattro getting Autronic SM4 ECU with plans of slamming one big Garret and IC inside (550-600 hp).

Great news Vlada..a nice Christmas present

Don't forget you will need an ABY front subframe for the EDU gearbox if your car is a 3b.

I got it, as well as the linkages and a new rs2 gearstick from Martyn

What are differences between connectors on EDU and 3b gearbox (rpm, reverse, what more..)

                Some updates on the project...

Engine was fully rebuilt (thanks Martyn for parts!).

Head work took 1 month.. REsult - widened valves, and full set of mechanical lifters custom made.

                  Chassis tuning:

I have replaced the rear diff with V8 Torsen one. This did not went as smooth as described in some treads but was doable ok.

In came the EDU gearbox, 6 speed S4 Biturbo state of the art of engineering, no problems there.

Lightened aluminium flywheel with sintermetal clutch sat perfectly on.

Strengthened mounts (engine, gearbox, diff - courtesy of 034 Motorsport) all went in without problems except diff bushes broke the mount when we tried to force them in and they had to be thinned a bit to fit the new mount.

Next were powerflex bushes all round, and Koni shocks to complete the chassis tuning.

Next was RS2 intercooler. Word of advice to everyone, do not buy ridiculously priced rs2 crossmember (local stealer wanted 1200 euro for it new!). For a price of lets say 12 euro you can modify your existing crossmember.

Looking good whereas the S2 6-speed has the same top ratio as the 5 sped (ie 5th = 6th), the EDU box 6th goes a little longer. I remember calculating it once with 215/45/17, made about 5-10mph higher top speed at 7k rpm. With mechanical lifters I guess you could be looking at going higher than that?

I do not plan higher revs for this stage, just had it done while I was rebuilding the engine for future (whole job including polishing head and wider valves costed me only 700 euro) I am thinking of next step for this car like Autronic ECU and 600+hp, but only after I had some fun driving this.

Today we turned the engine on! It started like it was turned off yesterday! What a music!

Here are some more pictures. At this point I have samco boost hoses installed and Magnecor leads

Is a RS2 fuel pressure regulator (FPR) actually needed to go from AAN to RS2?
