My Bumper project

I have held back from starting a post long enough. In search for a bumper solution for my large intercooler, I ended up creating my own bumper.

I started with a crappy US bumper; cut it in half dropped it 1" for better clearance.

Next I filled it with fiberglass and bondo to get the shape I wanted.

Then wrapped it in carbon fiber

I love the bumper... but sometimes I look at it and am unsure

This is the first thing I ever painted. Over all I am happy.
I have ghost action right above the intercooler hole where the carbon can be seen through the paint...

I like the fact that a bigger IC wil fit under this bumper........and I also love custom jobs done by car owners

Although I think I spot a bit of bumper drop by the front arches.....

I had the same problem with those useless fastener things (that go rusty and bend!)
best fix I found was to
1/ get a friend to hold the bumper in perfect position on one side.
2/Drill through the bumper plastic and inner arch liner in 3 places like top, middle and bottom..
3/Screw 3 nice self tapping screws to suit (and washers) through each hole
4/ Do the other side too
5/ Bingo .....rock solid bumper

Yeah I actually don't have the fasteners in the arches. I just got anxious to get a pic and I took it off to continue to work on the car.
