This project is back and I'm happy to say not a 3.6L any more.

The new engine is a 4.2L ABH code from a 92 V8Quattro. The engine has port work, ~11.5:1 CR and less then 5k on the rebuilt bottom end. The car will still have the 6-speed TDI gear box which with ~340Hp and ~340-380 ft-lbs (chipped when installed in car) should be good.

The brakes for the car are a little on the large size, but with an RS2+ power level plant I think RS2+ size brakes are a good idea.
Front brake system will consist of Porsche 928GTS Big blacks, Mercedes ML55 AMG front 345mm by 32mm rotors, and a custom made steel adapter similar to RS2.
The rear Brakes will consist of 312mm by 25mm A8 (D2 97-99 US) front rotors with Porsche 996 C4 rear Black mono's on custom steel brackets. This system will delete E-brake for the time being just to get the car back moving. The final system will have some kind of secondary caliper and a hydraulic E-brake system, 100% independent of the standard system.
    Fronts

    Rears

The together (yes that is a 12oz pop can)

My current plan is to get it back to a rolling chassis (currently it has no drive train, suspension and only a minor interior) and bring it home from where it's stored currently 100 miles away.

The car will be run on a stock 3.6L ECU with ABT chipset and larger 19lb injectors (a ~11% increase over stock) with an Adjustable FPR and a set of these feeding the engine

I'll be rebuilding this car as funds allow, which on a college students budget isn't much. Lucky for me I work in a machine shop so I get free machine time to do things like press the bushings in/out and such. Goal is to get it running on this engine for now and then get a few other things done, before deciding the next course of action. It's not like a performance built 4.2L will be slow, this basically is filling the Porsche 928 GT lust I have. Worked on a family friends 928 GT for years (as part of a pit crew), V8's are addicting.

They are very similar to the T85 pumps, only they flow more and I have 2

The brakes are as big as 17" wheels would allow (and some don't even allow these). I'm hoping to have the car running by oct, but we'll see how that goes. I am about done with stripping the subframes for welding (to stiffen them) then the 4-control arms (rears are getting welded as well) and the 2 welded subframes will be powder coated Black. Next after those are finished with the new coating it'll be back to installing them and the car rolling again.

The engine, transmission, and, rear diff will get installed and the car running before I finish things like the interior and the suspension. I'll use stock springs and struts until the beast breathes fire, and maybe even after that. I'm going for getting the 4.2L in and then see how I like the power, before I finish everything. I mean what good are coilovers on a car that has no engine?
