Significant wear on the main bearings. Rod bearings look decent. Car has 160k and has been chipped for most of its life. Pistons are in perfect shape. No skirt wear.

Lastly, the bores are in perfect shape. No lip at the top. Cross hatch looks new. Overall, I’m blown away by how clean this engine is. Thanks to the PO for taking care of it.

Supertech SPR-V2093-4-20S high rate springs vs stock.
Weight: Stock 46.7g, ST 46.1g
Length Outer Spring: Stock 40.2mm, ST 42.8mm
Length Inner Spring: Stock 34.3mm, ST 35.4mm
Wire Diameter Outer: Stock 3.61mm, ST 3.74mm
Wire Diameter Inner: Stock 2.48mm, ST 2.67mm
I’ll probably have the machine shop check the rates bc I’m curious.

Supertech VWEVN-1034 and VWIVN-1034 vs stock.
In Weight: Stock 50g, ST 45g
Ex Weight: Stock 49g, ST 47g
So, basically the same weight. The stock valves are flat and the ST valves are dishes which will give a tiny decrease in compression ratio. The neck of the intake valve on the ST valve is narrowed down which will give a tiny bit better flow. I’ve heard the stock sodium filled ex valves can break so nice to replace with solid ones. Not a needed upgrade but feels good to refresh the valves while I’m putting in 7A cams.

Had the valve cover and intake manifold vapor honed. Crazy how bright the aluminum comes out. Wish I could do this to every aluminum bit on the engine!

Painted the front and rear calipers. Maybe the least important thing I could do but waiting for the machine shop to balance the rotating assembly. Before was silver, after in red.

Block painted. Such a pain to mask everything off but it needed to be done. Not anywhere near perfect but more than good enough!
