Yes. Probably the best engine VAG ever made, after the five cylinder turbo of course
I already picked up a mk4 golf with ASZ engine but it has the wrong 6 speed gearbox that isn't easy or cheap to fit in the caddy. On the lookout for 5 speed O2J or O2A box from a tdi. Golf has done 160k miles. Just run in

Those ASZ engines were/ are very nice. 180bhp with a standard tune.
The 100bhp AXR engines are nice as well. These do 150bhp with a tune.

My dad had a Passat B5.5 with the AVB 100bhp chipped to 155bhp which ran perfectly
up to the 450.000km when he moved to a newer car.

    Caddy side project

Don't worry guys, I've not gone rogue.
I was offered this recently and I thought it would be an interesting side project.
It was our local milk ladies delivery vehicle for 20+ year's.
Anyway, the body is very sound, a little rust here and there but nothing major. It has a pedestrian slow 1.6 non turbo diesel. My plan is to fit the very popular pd130 engine from a mk4 golf.
If folks here are interested, i will update this thread with progress.
Working...
