    7A stroker project.

If anyone is interested in in building a big bore 7A engine you will need a new crank, very few of these with the 92.8mm stroke are still available.

If you are seriously interested Steve Cresswell at C and R Enterprises can get you one but you need to damn quick, contact him on 0115 9785740 for details.

    Mines on order!
    Carlos.

You still can get the crancks at eurospec. It originated from an industrial IL5 engine.
What does he quote for a cranck?

My engine project begins, i now have a 7A short block and head coming soon. First job is to strip the engine down and give it a good clean and check over.

If there is anyone out there who could help with hints and tips, books to read or tools that i'm going to need all will be greatly appreciated.

A the moment the intention is to build a lighter, balanced road engine without a turbo, but plans may change.

        Thanks.
        Carlos.

I was thinking about this aswell.. im very intressted in building a 7A NA stroker form my coupe to throw in and test..
Big volume and hig RPM how is it achievable with the 7A?

Today i have the 95.5 and 83mm bore and turbo... but rpm is verylimited.. It would be very intressting to build an 7A Honda style.. if you know what i mean!
It´s just a question of time..

It would be very intressting to build an 7A Honda style......toy have this opions too: use the dieselblock( 2,4 or 2,5) rebore to 84,00 (with o-ring gasged) use the 159c/c conrod, or 165... then 86,4 cranc( opion 77,4 from a 2,0 5pot...).. then deasent port job in a 20 v head.. some really high lift cams...solid lifters, then you have the high rpm
have been nice to have the cams somehowe regulated ala honda, or toyota....then you have very nice Nm from the low to the high rpm....
it may be possible to regulate the 2 cams with an extra tothwheel betveen the two org wheels and chane under the cover??? , with oilpessure or??

ohh sounds relly nice.. would be really nice to try a new concept..
okey so you get a 2.0 if using the 86.4 with tall deck ?
hm i have alot of I5 parts to play with.. but no large deck..
I have a 3b, MC, and a 7A engine maybe i could use some parts from them..

              so 159mm rods + 86.4 crank + 84 bore + high comp + E85 + camshafts

but why use dieselblock ? Is it due to the rod angle ?
It´s just a question of time..

the dieselblock are really different in the bottom end..and ca 16mm taller...and if you reduse the rod angel, from 73gr to ca 70gr ,the less sylindewall stress( fricsion) so over 1,8faktor with fx 10k rpm...( dry sump !!)
you may use the eurovan/transporter 2,4 5pot or the 2,5 diesel audi a6/ volvo 850/v70,vw eurovan, or the 110hp 2,5 10v 5pot petrol...they are cheap to get( the mostly of the internals will fit)
i have a the 77,4 cranc at home too....( 11000rpm???)

I did think about this with my 2.0 PS crank, however decided what is the point in building an audi street stroker the "wrong" way.

I didn't think the stock oil pump would be overly happy about that?

The head ports on those hondas are also very different to ours.

Im running an 8000rpm redline on 95.5 stroke with 1.66 rod ratio. Stuck to 8000 so I could stay with hydraulic lifters and stock oil pump.
if I dry sump it and solid lifter it, it will sit at 9000rpm with 2bar of boost and no issues as I kept thebpiston diameter to 82mm and fitted ductile liners giving improved bore elasticity.

Alternativelly could change rod ratio to 1.75 and rev to 10,000 but the extra length of the rods will make the engine feel less responsive.
