I'm sure it's not what Ross wants, but I'm also reasonably sure he wouldn't mind driving his car? An S2 with a standard engine is a capable car and can be driven very quickly. Any muppet can go fast in a straight line, I had more fun chasing a mate of mine in a Gallardo in my 1.8T Mk4 Golf+Revo than he did driving a Gallardo and not being able to shake a shonky V reg Golf off I assure you.

It was just a suggestion. BHP figures are impressive etc but nothing more than pub ***** size when it comes down to it. I've read a lot of Ross's posts and although he wants a very potent motor he doesn't come across as the pub chat BHP figures kinda guy... hence my suggestion of having his lovely car back with an engine that doesn't eat itself and he may get a little more enjoyment out of it that he would do if it were sat quite literally gathering dust.
No disrespect to Audiman (Hi Tom ), but that post is bloody spot on!

He has hardly driven the Avant, and what with the Coupe saga, he really needs some S2 Drugs back in his system.

    Cheers,

    Steve.

with all due respect you can have high power and reliability, BTDT with my own 600+BHP car. Yeah BHP can be pub talk, but I dont go for huge BHP just to mouth off down the pub. You dont know me and my history. Its the rush of accelerating so hard that gets me

Agreed, we all want different things from cars

But the fundamental thing here is that we all want at least A car, something which Ross has been without for some time now!!
          1994 Audi S2 Avant - in pieces
2006 Skoda Octavia vRS 2.0TFSi - goes fast
          1985 Audi 90 quattro - is wet

You let him drive! He never told me that! Shame there aren't any pictures to prove it!

Speaking of us all wanting A car. Anyone want HIS car? With or without engine rebuild. Any offers please PM Ross of myself.

If the insurance pulls through, the car will get a new engine (probably not as powerful as the first one though, but an engine none the less) if the insurance doesn't pay, we doubt Mr. Jones is going to fork out anything from his own pocket, so we'll have an Audi S2 Avant, with RS2 interior and parts but not engine. Either way, the car is being sold. And before you all sharpen your pitchforks and point them at me, it was NOT my decision, I have never said "Ross you need to sell your car", it's just that this whole situation has worn him thin to the ground and all his enthusiasm for his Audi S2 has been sucked out of him leaving nothing but hollowness and a tad bit of bitterness. (As you can imagine)

Besides, I think Ross has realised that there are other things in life that can give you an "adrenaline rush".

As has been said before- Why go back to a standard engine????
A LOT of money was obviously spent to get the engine to this spec- you wouldn't spend that kind of dough if you wanted to have a std engine!!

How pissed off would you all feel if this would have happened to you, i know i would be( but then i build my own engines and would only have myself to blame)

If you had set yourself up for having the big horse motor and then it all goes **** up and takes so long to get sorted you will feel like saying **** it and giving up....

All i know is the first port of call is the guy who built the engine-stripdown-find cause of problem-wrong fitting-compoent failure-etc.. then it gets sorted

But 6 months to fond the prob when there is a BIG ****IN HOLE in the block takes the piss royally......................and i would be having a quiet word.

Any mug can build an engine, getting it to stay together is the bit that takes a bit of skill..........

I haven't been on the forum for a while, but was wondering why the bottom end was opened up again after Tom rebuilt it for Ross's old car, there wasnt anything wrong with it then.

this seems to me like a put together fault and not a rod material problem. If it were me i would expect the shop to pay for the mess.
I dont want to stir yp the s*** here but if it wasnt a mechanic's fault this wouldnt happen after 80Kms of driving.

Ross mate dont' do it you'll regret it, I know that the car build went in a direction you didn't want and the tuner added extra you did not ask for but do not give up.

That Avant is the finest example one could find, Tim put a lot of work into it.

There's been a lot of calls for it go back to standard, why should it?

Ross has paid for a service for his car to be modded and should rightly expect working results.

If the car was put back to standard and Ross got a refund that would maybe acceptable.

I would also not quite this project if I were Ross. OK, he had a very bad experience, that costed a lot of money and anger/sadness. It is easy for me to say, since I am not in the same situation, but it would be a waste of effort that you have put in all these years to stop now, since you only need a new block + some other parts. It would be another situation when the complete car would be total-loss.....

Look into the future Ross and see it as a long term investment, where you can get a lot of satisfaction from. I love my Slipperwagon with 400+ HP!

I have also had more than my share of problems with my S2, and yes felt like throwing in the towel, but now the car is up and running again I have to say I am very glad I kept the faith.
Keep the faith Ross you will not regret it.
