My 3B Coupé Project.

I made some time for the old banger today. I probably should be swapping lambda probes on the Porsche, or something, but I can probably do that in the rain or in the dark. So seeing as we're getting some dry, albeit cold weather with a hint of snow, S2 tinkering it was.
So I made a start on the intake pipework.

And JP thought his engine bay was dirty.
But to be fair the car hasn't been cleaned for over 5 years.
I kind of liked it when the engine bay was clean and empty.

How is your S2, Dan?
I think the lesson to be learned here is if you are thinking of undertaking a major overhaul, then make sure you get on with it quickly. Otherwise you end up trying to fill the S2 driving void with other toys that end up stealing time from working on the S2.Leave a comment:

Huh? Is there a problem with the forum?
Why has this old thread popped up?

Well I can't really turn that down, can I.
We are overdue a good summer next year, so fingers crossed. I managed to get a few things done in the Spring drought this year. But once the hose pipe bans came in, any dry days were used for maintenance on the rest of the fleet.
The MOT runs out on the Porsche next month and I need to get under it for a couple of little jobs. Although I'm tempted to leave it until Spring, as it's pheckin' useless at this time of year. But it is my current Ring toy, so needs to be fit in April.Leave a comment:

Bloody hell Stu, 2 posts inside a week?

You need to get sorted by next autumn, I've reserved you a spot in the Panthero stand at ADI which will be right next to the area allocated to the common muck

Cheers guys.
I see we're in for crap weather again this weekend, so much chance to keep the ball rolling.
I have also lost my access to the Bridgeport and bead blaster. So I am glad I have already got most of the mucky stuff done.
The fantastic turn-out at ADI this year really reminded me how much I love these S2s, and that I need to stick with it. That and a ride in Sonic's car at the Ring earlier in the year. The trouble is these days 450+bhp still doesn't seem like enough on track.

Good to hear you're still finding time to work on it Stu. Looking forward to more updates

I had a wee bit of time for S2 tinkering today, taking advantage of some daylight and dry weather.
After finally starting the intake plumbing a little while ago, I wasn't happy with the turbo drain hose position. Things were pretty tight around the compressor outlet.
After removing the turbo, adjusting the drain hose, re-clocking the turbo slightly, refitting and repeating a few times, I think I have it sorted.
I am fairly sure I should be able to crack on with intake hoses now.
I also got my Cups back from the blasters last week. I was surprised how good they look with all the scratched and chipped paint removed. Now I just need to get some paint back on them sometime.
I know it's not much to report, but at least it's something.Leave a comment:

Takk Leif-Helge.
Good luck your upgrade. Just make sure you get on with it quickly.
I had RS2 bits ready to go on my car, but I decided to go further. It certainly gets a lot more complicated when you go for a more unusual setup. Sometimes I wish I had stuck with RS2 spec, then I would have had the car back together a long time ago.

Nice project.. Hang in there, It'll be worth it when you fire it up and take it for a spin eventually! I'm taking my 3B off the road later this year for some engine/transmission upgrades. Probably madness, as it works pretty good now with RS2 setup, VEMS and E85. I hope to be back on the streets after a few weeks. Greetings from Norway
