    New Project Time!!!!!

    Hi guys.

I am just pricing up at the moment for a new project and compiling a bit of a shopping list!!!

Can anyone add to this list so that I can send it to the correct peeps and get all my prices sorted.

Just so you know it will be a complete stripa nd rebuild of all components of the car so evrything (and I mean everything that can be replaced is going to be......)

Various sources are going to be used for finding the parts so a list as long as thier arm will be winging its way to them in the next few week (I go away for a week tomorow!!)

    Right on with the list!!

    Engine rebuild!

    RS2 spec shells
    Scat rods
    JE Pistons
    Piston rings
    Oil pump
    Water pump
    Sump baffle

    All gaskets

    New valves
    Lifters
    Vavle spings
    Retainers
    ARP headbolts
    Cam gear pulley
Injectors (haven't decided on the turbo yet so can't really decide on that one ATM)
    Turbo
    EM
    Custom IM

ANything else to replace whilst I am there?????
    Dark Grey Avant
    RS2 FARB
    Powerflex Front wishbone bushes
    Alloy Subframe Bushes

    Now onto the car.

After checking the wishbone (if they are cast they will be cleaned up and Pcoated)

    Wheel bearings
    Wishbones (poss)
    Ball joints
Track rods (volcano I may be heading your way for them)
    Engine mounts
    Ali Subframe bushes.
Gearbox and Diff mounts (as hard as possible)
    Poly wishbone bushes
    Snub mount

    Custom Intercooler
    Custom intake piping
    Larger (thicker) Rad
    Kenlowe fan
    Custom Catch tank
    Strut brace (front and rear)

Suspension can't decide on KW or the usual Billi and H&R

    Wheel (pssibly Avez atm)
    Tyres
Full interior retrim with Recaro fronts

    Full bodykit (nice one )
    Full respray

At this time I am thinking of having the subframes etc dipped and Pcoated and giving the underbody a complet strip down, clean and repaint just to help prevent rust int eh future and also an underbody tray (anyone done this before???)

Any bits that anyone else can think off. Even miniscule ones please post them on here. This is going to be a full restoration and modification of the car at the same time (car still to be obtained once all the pricings are sorted)

    Cheers Guys.

Oh Alerad can you PM your phone number as I have a few questions to ask on lead times for parts.
    Cheers
    Az

You would save yourself a hellyuva lot of work and money by buying an S2 rather than having to swap CQ parts all the time mate ?!
or is that part of your plan?

Stock pistons are good for 600-650. As I've proved earlier, atleast until the valve took a leave of absense.

Seriously that list is going to grow like you wouldn’t believe, by time you add in all the nuts, bolts, pipes, sensors and bits that can wear out it all starts to spiral out of control.

Then you start thinking about all the upgraded parts and modification work you can do along the way. I planned the same as yourself, quick engine rebuild, add a few uprated parts like rods, job done. Instead i have a huge pile of new bits stacked up in box's that are worth a fortune, so over budget all i can do is laugh about it at this stage

The optional upgrades i where i got sucked in, couldn’t leave out any of them.

Block machining work, cost of work and custom pistons.
Bottom end parts, cost of Rods, oil pump, bearings, ARP Stud Kits.
Balancing work on the bottom end, change to 3B pulley/flywheel.
Head porting work, valve work, lightweight valve gear.
Intake plumbing, manifolds, turbo, intercooler, airbox setup etc.
Transmission, 6 speed conversion with 3B flywheel, up rated clutch.
Steering, S2 steering rack, replacing steering damper and bits.
Suspension, struts, a-arms, shocks, springs, bushings.

It’s the old "while i have it apart i might as well do X" philosophy that will get you in the end. And dont underestimate the list of "new" bits you will need along the way, that was the real killer in the cost department. Buy hey its all good fun

This is it guys while it is apart I want to have everything to hand to do All that I can so it doesn't come apart again....

@S2dude. I will be buying a scrapper S2 for the donar parts. All the transmission, drivetrain, engine, loom, suspension etc will be off an S2 just the shell will be stock Type 85 (clue there) CQ. Easier for brake upgrades etc to work with and parts more readily available if I do break something along the way.....
My blue CQ is staying on the road as my runabout (if you can call it such a thing!!!) This new project is going to be purely for fun and track days!! Looking to build about a 500BHP engine for it so will be much fun

@MAca the only cost I will have are parts and the labour for rebuilding the engine. Everything else will be done by moi!! Getting a dab hand at it at the mo.....
I know the list gets ever longer but I will be able to kill most of it by finding the right priced dinged S2 to gett all the bits from
