well after a slightly disappointing few runs at Gti this year, (9 to be precise), i hate 2wd!!! LMAO

I never thought it would be this much of a problem, but with the big power it was almost impossible to get off the line fast. My little bro was faster 0-60 than me with his supercharged vr6 mk2 golf and thats 'only' 260bhp.

This brings me round to my next stage in the project....... its getting turned into 4wd

Im gonna be fitting a haldex setup from an s3 or similar, its not gonna be an easy project, but its one that NEEDS to be done. Im gonna hold off until the winter time as i wont be using it then. Lack of traction! LOL

how about a good diff, a good 2 step limiter and some slicks.

its not easy. it ends up being necessary to either do as you say go 4x4 or fit realy hard suspension and have a drag only car with big slicks.

LSD wont be enough, been speaking to a few people and it just wont allow me to get the power down. It would help, but spending £700+vat on gearbox rebuild with a diff and finding out its still ***** will be frustrating to say the least. Only way to KNOW it will grip is 4WD, and it will let me do some great drifting with the haldex controlled manually and not electrically

yes i know of a couple of 4x4 motors.

IIRC VW no longer have the syncro boot floors that fit straight in.

not sure if you are aware of dutchdub.com. they are good with this stuff. i was going 02m with my corrado and fitting a peloquin diff, still FWD. i got a mount from them so it would fit straight onto the rear subframe mounting point with the removel and rewelding of the mount holder.

There is a full syncro mk2 rolling chassis for sale in Yorkshire for £300 it has the fuel tank and everything with it.(it's in the back of the Golf+ mag)That would be a start........Sounds like its going to be awesome. I wouldn't mind another Mk2 Golf

Seen this go up the strip at inters, came on strong once it got traction and sounded awesome on song

Ive just helped a mate convert his mk2 to syncro (i done all the welding) and its not a bad job to do. He bought all the parts from vw new a couple of years ago before the went out of stock. There are quite hidden parts to weld in if your doing it piece by piece.

Ive got the boot floor (ALL OF IT lol),tunell and fuel tank from a 1.8 syncro if you need some bits, there was a guy intrested but now hes not answering my txts.

Edit* i built a tubluar manifold for a lad with a corsa turbo, he plumbed the ISV to the bottom of the expansion bottle and filled his engine with water, he only noticed when water came out of the inlet manifold , he drained it and went for a drive, came back with a fooked big end bearings

mk3 tdi that was about 115mph, on a couple of runs i managed to get into 4th so would have been about 125mph
