    need help buying dead s2

    hi,

about a 8 months ago i went down to see an old mate at a garage that he owns,

we were chatting about my new e39 5 series at the time and he said he had something that would interest me. he showed me his mates S2 that was in for its MOT, he took me out in it for 10 mins and i was amazed. it was stupidly quick, he said that it had been tuned but didnt know what had been done, lets just say that it was VERY VERY QUICK!

i noticed that it had 4 pot calipers on the front coupled with a big brake kit and also had koni shocks

any way i went to see him last week and the car was in the yard and i asked him about it and he said that the bottom end had gone on it, either crank shaft or big end bearings and that his mate was selling it.

his mate wants 1500 quid but probably take 1000.

what i wanted to ask you guys is,

    is it worth buying?
are the parts easy to find?
how much would it cost to rebuild the engine?

    cheers
    john

If the rest of the car is in good condition snap his hand off, get your hands on another engine and do a swap. Bobs your uncle

I would say it would easily be worth it, the brakes and shocks alone would cost over 1000 to go and buy....
Engine rebuilds are not stupid money, and if the rest of the car is sorted you would have a cracking car on your hands....
Parts are not that hard to get generally, especially with the help of the guys on the forum here, most bits can be got....... not necessarily the cheapest cars in the world to run, but worth every penny...

Was going to say the same thing spink.looking for it on the for sale section but not there..and i would not be pleased if my car was in a garage and the owner/mate was taking his mates round for a spin in it !!.anyway!

I would be buying it in a second for that money

                  This one?
It sounds like the same engine / bearing issue and it has 4 pot brakes.
