    Project Rally/Sleeper (85 Coupe Quattro)

    Hi,
I have just bought my first car.
    or more correct a project.

It has been in a collision, and had some (lets just say not knowing what they had) owners, that drove it like walter rolrh just lacking the experience.

But I know that '' The impossible just takes longer time'',
So I have desided too push on.

    The concept is:
I want a Rally car that can be used daily,
and of corse offer rally like steering and handling.
and also look like a normal car intill you see the inside of it.
the door sides are going too be gun metal painted aluminium (or what ever you call it over there) plates.

Plans or as long the money last:
Rebuild a audi 100/200 10VT engine, Too keep the Sound and the spirit of the URQ.
Get a 90/80 type 85 quattro transmission and overhaul it.
    Get Urquattro fenders on.
build a half - cage (roll cage) but so I can use the back seats.
    Stiffen the chassie.
    Respray It in ''Tornado Red''
overhaule the suspension and gearbox and diff and engine mountings.
4 rally style borch extra lights, mounted like the S1 rally car.
    Reskin my back seats

    Wish list:
    S2 Suspension.
    Comotive white rims (rally style)
porsche 996 front seats (leather) or S2 seats
    sport stearing wheel (rally style)
    and Urquattro bumpers.
    WRC ICE RALLY TIRES

The worst list on this page, THE PROBLEMS
The (Ur) quattro fenders looks like its been in sea water, but not hopeless.
After what i have heard the transmission is no good, and i thoght those was bullet proof.
the front is wrecked, and the car is at least resparyed once.
and the Old RearLights (Black ones) are cracked, but i got new (used) ones.
And the engine is ticking, but Im getting one from a 100/200 turbo.

Please bear with me as i only can work on it in weekends, and I as Im a norwegian my english isnt too good.

    Thanks
I Own a Type 85 Coupe Quattro, but its currently in the garage getting teard apart.

Tbh the ticking could just be either low oil or exhaust manifolds cracked or not on fully which is common on some of these. Looks like a good project.

        update

So i have finished ripping the interior out,
and the hood and the wings are off.

and ive been under the car, the gearbox and the diff seems too be broken,
... i started the car when it was lifted, and the diff's seem too be broken.

And the Suspension seems too be good, only the bushings and the rods are bad.

But as I said the Driveline is gone, I want a new/used one and one that bolts right in.
        Any ideas?

By the way these are the fenders that I have bought, as you can see they need some work.

no, or i have thought about it.
I think ill go with a 10v as it sounds better.
and it will keep its soul, and it will be a little bit more spesial since everybody is converting too 20v.

But any way nice engine bay.

sorry for the long ''not updating post'' time, but i have been busy sitting on my *** in this:

My dad just got it, and its a dream too drive ... for a 30 year old car.

But I have started too get the interior out, and I will start with the ''tarmac plates'' and inner roof next week end.

I got this steering wheel with the car, Is this a aftermarket part?

That looks like it is a "Tresser" steering wheel for a UR quattro

Please give more pictures, because I need to put roll cage in to mine, and I need tips, and pictures to plan everything . Especially putting interior back after .

I don't want to be crude with my beloved coupe, that's why I don't want just to rip everything with force, like I've did with my 80 . And to do that - you need to know how it looks from other side (where bolts are, etc). Family album helps, but not at everything.

Its not very complicated if you cant find the screw just carefully rattle the thing and youll see where its mounted, the screws are just a little bit hard too find.

I cant remember where all of those screws placed,
but I i do remember that the glove box and the box under the wheel must be removed before the middle can be removed.

ohh, and make sure too mark all of the wires!

                      good luck
