I decided to weld my own Exhaust manifold ....
Read a post on Vortex and it looked like a DIY Job...
not too handy with the argon welding so after a while i had to call a friend to help me out. He's not so good either

Looks a little better after i ground the excess welding and sent it to the engineers to skim the surfaces.
faheemo your project is so nice don't spoil it with this manifold with the kind of power you are aiming for it won't last long anyway .that welding is as bad as my welding

One should always pick the softest spring that does not float at redline. The reason is that stiffer valve springs increase valvetrain friction, and sap power at all rpms, in addition to increased wear on the camshafts. Your valves have been lightened, so that reduces the need for stiffer springs as well. The lighter the valvetrain, the less reciprocating mass for the valve springs to control, thus enabling the use of softer valve springs.
Are you using the "new" lightweight hydro lifters? They save some 20+ grams over the old type (and that is much more of a weight saving than TI retainers provides, and at a lower cost)

WGFV: know this has been discussed to death, but on my setup the N75 was utterly unreliable. Would often overboost to almost 2.5 BAR... Running the Turbotech controller from Australia now, with excellent results. Boost comes on super quick, and stays rock solid. Tried a bleed valve too, what a waste, major lag (with graphs to prove it..)
That makes good sense, I really didnt think about the wear on the cams the high rate springs would induce. I do have the light weight lifters you talk about.
I should return to standard valve springs and save the stiffer ones for when i decide to do solid lifters or something.

Was deciding on which boost controller to go with, i have a Profec B on my mk3 supra and it's great to use. Also looking at the Apexi controllers.
will tend to that a little later .. any BTDT's on boost controllers ?

Boost controllers will produce a negative response on this forum your best off reading jap forums. I have a blitz i-color although it's not currently connected.

Well I'm not too mad about the WGFV - ok it may have good safety in mind, but terrible for hardcore boost ! I've gone thru 2 in as many years !

CAT - the valves wher custom made for my head by this company in S Africa.

They cost me about $350 USD.

There are other valves to replace the WGFV.

i'm hoping to get MRC to try something with my car when it gets mapped but I don't know if the valve will work.

According to the net it should. Only release details on that once it's tested though.

Recieved the Block back from the engineers, bored out to 82.5mm.
Doing a mock up and then it's off to be balanced.
Will i have any issues if i balance the setup with a 7a flywheel and the standard ABY pulley damper ?
Read somewher that they(pulleys) are different masses for the different setups.

Was the block bored with a torque plate?

                        No Torque plate used.

Did the Mockup yesterday - used a cheap set of bearings - Had to do some clearancing on the fillet of the crank, the new crank wasnt clearing the oil squirters.
No problem with the SPM rods clearing and bottom of the cylinder block or sleeve.

Next : going to be balanced, waiting for 7a flywheel setup to arrive.

Will a ABY clutch plate work on a 7a flywheel setup ?

Interesting thread, do you have a photo or two of the car as it's colour is unusual?

                          Thanks and kind regards.

Is the 7a flywheel flat or are the edges "up a level". If flat then you must have the 3b pressure plate..
