    hello,
a friend of mine has an S4 2.2 T and some money left to modify it, what do you think of this setup and what is missing to make it any good?

    Turbocharger GT28RS 0.63 (kit)

    ARP Head Studs,

    Wastegate Spring, 1.9BAR

    Multi-layer Steel Headgasket

    RS2 Replica Injector

    Bypass Valve, 034 Spec

    ARP TURBO BOLTS

    Air/Fuel Ratio Gauge, Narrow Band

    VMAP Map Sensors, 3 BAR

If i'm completely on the wrong track please show me the better way to do this...

i think corey @ quattronics was looking at doing a 996/gt3 conversion
            might be wrong though

brake porn is for the summer break, back to the initial problem: 034 says the Garett gt 28rs in their kit is plug and play due to the k24/26 hotside but do we need a rs2 EM to prevent 1 and 5 of an "exhaust jam" or not, what do you think jamo??

I personally think the 28R is too small for the 2.2 engine and a 2871r is the best replacement for the K24.

If you run on the standard manifold your limited to 300-320 bhp but it is possible ( of course an RS2 or Wagner manifold would be better. )

with 26RS you can do a really nice everyday car, but please do something about the manifold. 1 and 5 cyls are under a strain with that standard brain-fart. With disco pot you will have nice wake-up from low revs but it will strain in higher revs, 2871R has more grunt for high revs.

I lent my S4 to Quattronics about 18 months back so that they could do some measuring and test fitting for a UFO to 996 GT3 conversion. Got a free oil-change, VAG-COM check and lots of cups of tea out of it!

yes this gt28rs is a bit small but we are looking to reduce the spool up time and gain just a little bit of power, 100 to 150 hp. And for that kind of job this gt28rs seems to be the right one.
What do think of the standard intercooler? Do we have to change it?

Well, my UrS4 had MAT at 60 on torque peak and 80 at power peak when it was on dyno, I havent seen such figures on road, but it is quite poorly placed and quite small.

sorry mate I need a little bit of translition for that.
                          MAT?
                          60 and 80 are temprtures I assume.
is this rather good or bad?
what kind of intercooler do you have ?

Manifold Air temperature, yes, those numbers are temperatures, in celcius. Right now I have stock intercooler. The colder air you get into engine the more you can squeeze power. My temperatures are high, no doubt about it. Optimum temp (without ice/water injection/intercooler sprays) is as close to ambient as possible.

thanks for this vocabulary lesson, might need some more to understand everything.
so to get it right in the end we will need to change the intercooler to get more than 340hp or so
