Audi 90 quattro with AAN conversion

Hi all,

Hi have a 1988 audi 90 quattro with AAN engine build in it.

It has stronger rods, stock pistons, larger intercooler, 650 cc injectors and a garrett T60-1 turbo.

I have porsche brakes but they arent fitted yet.

Everything was build in by a friend of mine Cees (Dutch RS2 blue or something is his forum name).

They car has ran 600 km with is engine and still has to be tuned. This is probably going to happen somewhere end aug. or begin sept.


I hoping someone can help me with some info about upgrades for the stock gearbox, drivetrain, wishbones, diff mounts etc. Im hoping to improve these thing next winter. Will stock s2 parts fitt my 90? Are these must stronger or does some one has good experience with some aftermarket (tuning) parts?

have a look at jogi's thread about his car, he's running a 20vt in a type 85 saloon.

Got any pictures of it. Stock s2 suspension/gearbox etc will fit, 6 speed needs the top of the transmission tunnel modding afaik.

Thanks i will look at that thread but mine is a type 89. Is that much different?

The thing i would like to upgrade first is the drivetrain, better/stronger diff. mounts and some powerflexx rubbers. Will the drivetrain and diff mounts of an s2 fit and is this much stronger than the stock 90q?

If its a type 89 then speak to chen, as he did a 3b conversion into a 90 quattro.
I have done an ABY conversion into a type 89 B3 chassis. And everything pretty much bolts in.
6-speed will be a bolt in conversion for you you just need the front half of 6-speed driveshaft and all the linkage.

Not sure if you need avant stuff or coupe stuff for the rear end of a 90. Either way one of the two will fit straight on.

FYI i have a complete rear suspension+diff from a 1995 S2 ABY avant 120k. sitting in my garden. If you need any of it, im your man!

Are these parts from the S2 signaficantly stronger? How much HP should they be able to handle without a big risk of breaking?

Im probably going to run sowhere around 440-480 HP at the crank.

Saloon Type 89 audi 90s use same setup as type89 Coupes.... The avant is a different rear differential iirc.

You want to speak to Chen and Newconvertor on here. Chen has a B3 90q with over 400bhp, NC is having his the same built by Chen as we speak.

That rings a bell actually that 90 quattro stuff on the rear is the same as coupe.
I'm running and ABY engine with all the rear axle etc from the original 2.3 NG drivetrain. NO probs as yet. But then ive only just built it
