Quattro Expedition : Argentina Ruta 40

Welcome to my next dream adventure :

Driving Mythical Ruta 40 ( 5000 km) in Argentina with an S2

I made already a 4 month trip in 2005 on motorbike ( 20 000 km) from Buenos Aires to Quito ( Ecuador) via Ushuaïa with a friend.

Here s the link to the site my friend Michael did :

This summer, i will begin to rebuild an S2 for this challenging road.

I don ' t know yet the timing of the trip. It could be winter 2009 if all planing goes on time or it will be next year.

This will leave me plenty of time to build a strong car and test it in Marocco or Turky.

    All advices are welcome.

    Cheers

Beuno Estente... That'll be some trip !

One thing I suspect you will need is some good ground clearance.

You might need sump guard style protection for the gearbox, prop and rear diff too.

Any deep water to cross on this trek ?

        Trip sounds like a

lotta fun. Double benefit. No work and on a road trip. Enjoy.

You might post photos featuring the car and the places you pass through in the background, so that we can travel on a virtual basis with you in our respective imaginations?

        Good luck and kind regards.

Looks like fun. Are you shipping your own S2 over? I can't imagine Argentina got many S2s.

i will just put bigger tyres and higher the suspension by an inch, complete protection all under the car ( lot of stones and gravel), no deep water ( should be out of the rainy saison when i hit the andes in the north

But there s also the problem of altitude ( pass 14000 ft ! ), don t know how the turbo gonna cope with that !?
