    Golf Rallye S2

Hi, im new to the forum!

Thought you guys maybe interested in my new project, picking up a Golf Rallye shell next week to fit S2 running gear in!

I know its been done before I hope the creator of this car doesnt mind? But going to put a different spin on it make it more motorsport than sleeper! Centre lock wheels with plenty of carbon and widen the arches a bit more!

All comments and tips are welcome! Post pics up as soon as I get!

    Cheers Mike

At least you can look at the way Baz has done his first, that should make it a lot easier!

As for the Rallye lets see some pictures of it as soon as possible I used to have one myself and still have a soft spot for them!

Just looked at that golf must be nuts!

Ive noticed not many people extensively modify rallye's? Too rare I suppose!

Pics will come getting the shell a week today, as soon as I get I will post some pics!

          Cheers Mike

If i was to start again i would do it more like this

I'm planning on making a space frame off the back end of the golf this winter but it is a lot cheaper using as many audi parts as you can.

Using the coupe back end should be easier than the avants but it will allways be a comprimise, this is why a spaceframe with double wishbone will allways be better.

I'm very interested how your going to tackle the front end, i did a lot of head scratching making it all fit.

And if your after wide arches why not use the s4 with its wider track, the s2 is only a little wider than a standard golf.

              Thanks for your reply!

I was hoping to get away from spaceframing as I would like to compete in Time attack, so I think it would be banned? Will have to email them and find out. It looks to be the easiest way of getting everything in the bay!

Do you think it may be a good idea to use an S4 as a donor then? Whats the AAN engine like compared to ABY? I think most the running gear is the same?

              Cheers Mike

AAN is all but identical to ABY except for left hooked inlet manifold and a few ancilliaries being different... AAN runs a viscous fan pulley too - but its all irrevelant for your needs - sourcing either donkey will be fine. All internals, timing and such are the same between AAN & ABY - they look different visually cos of the inlet and associated different location for throttle body...

this is everything you need albeit airbox and exhaust
the majority of the other parts from the s4 wont be transferable to your car. Suspension and brakes arent compatible

Your going for the wider track of the s4 then?

All i can say if you get a car you get a lot of other parts that you need.

Yeah I think it would be the best option to get the extra width!

I thought it might be easier getting a whole car, take off the bits i need and sell the rest make some money back!

                              Cheers Mike
