no, the most work is to put loom in, because originaly is together with front heating

if you find heated seats for avant there is no problem

Great thread! Could you help me with something?

I have a 1995 S6 Avant which I've been working on for a while now. Engine sorted (RS2 spec), as is exhaust, brakes (AP racing 6 pots on front) and now it's time for the suspension.

Have already installed Bilstein B8s and H&R springs on the rear, but fronts have an old Sachs kit (oil filled shocks) which has seen better days.

So, I'm going to put the same Bilstein/H&R kit in the front, but the question is, what else do I need to change at the same time to make it stop handling like an old boat?

Steering is just not positive enough at the moment. Feels like it's wallowing around and sometimes the car pulls hard left under braking. This isn't that surprising as this 1800kg beast has done 115k miles and will still be on the original bushes all round (apart from tie rod ends which I've just replaced).

I'm happy to spend the cash necessary to get the handling tight and sorted - I might as well do it at the same time as front springs/dampers. From this thread, it looks like I'll need new top mounts, damper gaiters, bump stops and bottom arm to arb bushes. What else should be on my list?

Is that an H&R FARB you have there??

Be grateful for any advice (and part numbers if you've got 'em!)

        Cheers,
        Tom

I have changed thing by steps, first i have changed dampers and top mounting

it was better but still not good enough, and i had some cracking nosie also from down under :mischeif:

then i changed front wishbones, i bought them from MEYLE from ebay.de, Heavy Duty

it was much better, but still a litle bit wobily thru cornes, went on lift and noticeh that i have worn out bushes on subframe, so i changed them and with them also the new FARB, farb is original urS4 from stealers made by H&R

that has done a lot of diference

oh and when i went to wheel alighment, i asked them to set it to urS6plus sport

all togehter is not cheap, but for me it is worth it

i can make you also part list

That's brilliant - thanks very much.

If you could provide a parts list I'd be very grateful

Why do you think replacing the FARB made a difference? I'm not familiar with the setup - is it just a metal bar, or does it come with bushings fitted?

I wasnt refering to FARB so much as to the bushes in subframe

i changed the farb, because mine was very rusty, and from a car that was one in past damaged, so the alighment wasnt 100% and price was around 100 eur if i remeber corect

I'm trying to work out how all this fits together. Do you know of a C4 suspension diagram anywhere? I assume the S6 is no different structurally than the other models using this chassis.

Sad day indeed, was / is nice.

At least the replacement is pretty special.

How do the B4 and the C4 compare and contrast now that you have, have had both ?

                              Thanks.
