    1987 cq v8 4.2 conv

hi all, ive been building up to doing somthing a bit special with my 1987 coupe quattro for a while now.
    today i bought a 4.2 v8 from a s8.
so first things first what box will work with this and fit in? i want six speed and intend to bring it to somwhere around the 600+ hp mark.
also which diff? im told it has to mach the box.
ive read some of the other v8 conversions that are being done so ive got a good idea of how to get it all to fit in the engine bay.
how well does nos work with these engines? bearing in mind mine is having a complete rebuild.

6 speed you have no option but for '01E' box - there are plenty of suitable donor cars. Almost all have 4.11 final ratio but some oddballs exist so do check the gearbox and diff codes... Later 01E from big diesels and other exotic models (eg S6+) have accomodation for gear oil cooler as well - which is worth considering for a monster build like yours.

Very nice engine you have chosen - please please please do it with aftermarket ECU - I have a dreamboat project for such an engine one day and would be great for someone else to do some leg work

Welcome to the forum by the way. Take some time to setup your country flag as it helps get more accurate answers to questions when seeking parts, donor cars and such.
