OK, I have owned this mk2 Golf for many years, 7 in fact. It has sat idle at the side of my house since 2005 it was used for work until this point. I can't bring my self to scrap it but have had no time or inclination to return it to the road until yesterday when out of boredom, and not wanting to start drinking to early I decided to move it from the yet to be developed area at the side of my house to the corner of the driveway and promptly gave it a wash. I could use a second car for silly things like nipping to the shop/gym/school etc so I have decided to return it to the road, I think.
The Photos make it look better than it is.
First of all good points:
4 nearly new tyres in 2005 on BBS alloys
4 new CV joints in 2005
New clutch in 2005
Re-con cylinder head in 2005
Decent bodywork, if in need of a proper polish
Bad points:
Gearbox, crunches when going for second and all the oil is leaking from the bell housing at worst need to source a good used gearbox.
Headlining as fell down and needs sticking back with spray glue
Need windscreen wiper relay
Need windscreen washer pump
Need a brake pipe at the back
Need NSR stub axle and wheel bearing
Bulbs for various rear lights
Need dash surround replacing after attempted stereo theft
Need OSR window mech and rubber
Radiator fan only works on high speed fixed with a wiring hack for now
Need new exhaust rubbers
New windscreen wipers
New Battery
That little lot should see it through an MOT
Then ill do the following:
Full polish/wax
Paint all the plastic trim
Fit some sort of stereo
Get the alignment checked/adjusted
I reckon with the parts I could sort it in a weekend. Am I mad ? or should I do it ?

This is where it has sat since 2005 !

Big hole in bell housing or leaky input shaft seal ?
Cheers
