Seconds for Hi-Spec customer service being crap, and they also tend to try the 'heavies' approach for anyone who becomes a problem...(picked the wrong person when my brother was speaking to em )

If you've got £1.5k to throw at brakes then the RS4/6/phaeton brakes are hard to beat but ideally need a rear upgrade too and you need to get 18s that clear, replicas can struggle. I've got DS2500s on stock rears and they're fine, the back lifts pretty high unless you're running stiff springs anyway. As ever, it depends on budget. GT3 mono 6 pots and 345 discs is a nice option for c.£1k.

ok i will be on 16" or 17" def dont want to go 18" dont like them. so what would best set up be. which porsche calipers and what car do they come from? would 314mm discs be better so using all pad area? got back set up sorted.

I have Hi-Spec four pots on my S2. I got them at a great price from blu_s2 on here a few years back. They are good but still somewhere off the Porsche Cayenne Turbo calipers i had on my S4. I will eventually get them fitted onto my S2

the 6 pot gt2 caliper. basically the same shape as the gt3 and toureg/cayenne with a 993TT disc fits under a 17" rim. they work. make the 4 pot look a little weedy.

i dont like hi-spec. heard issues with quality and lots of service issues. ive used willwood were pretty good and very light. seenj a few ap kits work ok, need servicing more and the pads can be brittle...and expensive. using porsche parts keeps the cost down.

i get full pad area use. i have about 2mm on the top of the disc that isn't in contact.

          costs are.

calipers - what you can get them for. i got the 4 off the gt2 for 600 quid.
          discs. - ecp 993 tt 117 each
bells and brackets - quattronics but expect bambridge can help now.
pads - ebc redstuff. the cheapest at the time at 145 quid. think they go for 80 ish now.

its more than a grand anyway. but so is a new front end.

              • 996 4 pot monos, PN 425/6 I think (check ), £300.
              • Bambridge will do some carriers £100?
              • 314 A8 discs are £50 each from GSF £100.
              • DS2500 are £120 delivered from Circuit Supplies.
              • RS2 hard lines and custom braided flexis (100mm ish) - s2avant.
              • or custom flexis (long and short) - ??
              • Hardware to mount brakes.

I thought about running some 16x8 lightweight wheels with 225/50R16 track rubber as I've not seen it done, could work well with stiff suspension. Currently have some bling Dezent Porsche style wheels in 17x8 ET35 for daily use with Goodyear F1 A's (23kg ea.) and some as yet unused OZ Superlegerra 17x8 ET35 with 225/45 Pirelli P Zero Corsas on them. 19kg each Reckon 16s could go to 18kg, as per the OE Avus .

For dedicated track use the Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 or 3 are quite nice, both light and strong. PR3s look nice and simple, 5 spokes in a Compmotive MO style.

Had a look today for some gt2 calipers but cant find any at the mo, did find some GT3 RS 6pots for sale are these the same as your GT2 ones? do you know part number off your calipers, and do they really fit under 17" these things look BIG!! others i found were

                Boxter fronts (not boxter s)
                997 s fronts
                996 fronts.

the above were all 4pots, would love six pots if i can get them in there!

Have any of you guys heard about Powerbrake yet? They are a South African manufacturer of disks (initially) who have recently started making callipers. Below is their calliper compared to a Brembo Big Red.

The calliper is made from billet aluminium, uses 4 pads (for better feel) have a look at http://www.powerbrake.co.za/prod_kits/kits_big.htm for all the details. With them being made in South Africa the pricing might be competative. Email sales@powerbrake.co.za

BTW I have no connection to Powerbrake except that I race with their disks and they also supply me with race pads. I get more than a season of racing on their disks.

i think the gt3 6 pot is the same. is it the ceramic yellow ones. they are the same shape as the cayenne ones. expect they use the same mold (ish) the gt ones dont have the carrier built in.also the pistons have different seals.

                      big they are.

get a toureg fitting kit from vw for the pads. its the same. easy to get too.

Oh I spoke to Powerbrake about their calipers. They supply a complete kit (see below) They haven't done a S2 but would be easy to supply them with a S2 to make up a kit. For a 330 x 32 disk kit the price would be 1,239 Pounds which seems pretty attractive.

"Kit includes: 2 x PB44L billet race calipers (featuring our separate pad per piston technology), 2 x GT-Series 2-PC floating race disc assemblies including billet hats/bells, bobbins etc (discs feature our staggered cooling vane technology), 2 x billet caliper mounting brackets, 2 x Duraline s/steel braided Teflon brake lines, 2 x bottles of Motul RBF600 synthetic race brake fluid and comprehensive fitment instructions. The kit excludes pads, which are quoted separately."
