Good Update

After a few helpful electrical tips from Mr Tonks (thanks Brian!!)...I have a running S2 ...basicilly the ECU was screwed and the relay for immobiliser was goosed ..some wiring that had been butcher for the aftermarket immobiliser was causing short as well(fuse 27)...

Next job now is change over lifters as they are shot been running 50/50 petrol/oil mix for god knows how long but the engine has had a good flush..lol
Aux RAd has been bypassed the wrong way + and - joined and causing over heating as you can imagine so thats first on the list , put in thermostat as well as this has been taken out probably due to aux mod affects

Breather system for the oil has had catch tank fitted but they did a quick job (which was admitted at the time )so going to fix this as the smell of oil in engine bay /heaters is doing my nut is

Front subframe mounts are needing replaced..bit floaty on the front end

Bodywork is needing clayed and machine polished

Interior just a good clean now

Fired up and running

Having issue with coolant system ..nightmare to bleed and not just right ...Worse scenario for me at the moment is the incorrect Aux mod has caused serious overheat for previous owner ..he had head gasket done but not sure if it had head skimmed ?..so possible warped head is causing system to be over pressurerised...Lucky enough I have another head sitting built up so maybe change it over and see what it is like


I have a leak coming from the sunroof switch panel ..so need to trace were the water is getting in ....any idea guys?

Interior is all sorted ,Breather system is fixed back to standard set up with Newsh mod on the collector beside PCV
Had to change over Power steering cooler as this was leaking
Have upgraded the throttle body and MAF boost hoses to samco
Tweaked the heat shield system for the time been on the filter so to restrict heat soak



So still lots to do !!!

Well ..Christmas rush over and getting some holidays in ..so have started back on the coupe

Engine is out have swapped over head as not happy with the one on it ..previous job done on the engine was shocking to say the least bolts missing here there and everywhere..head was torque to about 30lbft and no more (warped for sure)

So engine sorted , changed over clutch ..wiring needing cleaned up in engine bay so just doing that now before engine goes back in

All the roof lining is out and dried,,changed over the sunroof unit and replaced all the piping for draingage ..going to velcro the roof lining on as very loose in areas

Yeah it has been a challenging car to say the least , got the car for a good price , so let me set aside a few quid to mop up all the issues...Was joking with one of my mates today ..he say ever car I have owned I have had the engine out at least once lol...why break a trend!... when I get the engine back in and running sweet thats the big issue dealt with just small stuff afterwards which wont take long to nail , Have set a target of end of the month and everything fixed

Well have the engine back in and running ..it is running as sweet as a nut , no problem bleeding coolant system as before when head was warped and not even torqued down right, cylinders were pressuring the system!!...clutch done to while I was there..but starting to smoke when warm which has only left me with the turbo now as I have covered everything else off..pretty pissed as I could of done this when the engine was out but last owner said they had swapped the turbo over , did check it had little play in it but if the seals are shot you cant really tell untill it is warm really and put down the discolouration on the blades to the head fault ..the joys ah!!

Going stick another turbo on tomorrow morning and hopefully that will be that!!
