Front wheel drive box for RS6 engine?

im looking a project for someone,

basicly looking at fitting an RS6 (v8 turbo) engine with a 6speed audi front wheel drive gearbox into an ultima GTR frame which is mid engined so hence the gear box queston.

which is the strongest audi front wheel drive box available?
will this bolt up to the rs6 motor?
is there a torsen differential available for the box?

think the simon bainbrige TT had an s2 gearbox??? this had an rs6 motor

would that increase the max speed because of the increase in engine revolutions of the diesel engine?

If I'm thinking of the same TT it is using a S2 box, but I doubt you'll find a front wheel drive box that will be able to stand the torque from the RS6 lump well not manual anyway. I read somewhere that the RS6 had an auto because Audi couldn't build a manual strong enough?????

yes. different final drive and ratios.

whats size wheels though. if you use a lot smaller rim on the kit car then it may balance out.

back in the day when the 02m came about and peeps went from o2a to o2m some found the 1.8t boxes awful as the ratios were for 17 or 18 inch rims and runnig a 15 on the golf or a 17 on the corrado meant you had aweful short gears.

that engine is more of a low rpm high speed unit anyway id expect so may suit one in a kit car

rolling radius may be your friend with a diesel box. think tom may be runnig one in his 1.8t not sure.

that may be true lee but car weight has loads to do with that as does 4x4. gotta lug that lard about and drag 4x4 and not break.

a light car puts a lot less stress on it.

id be looking for a late 100 2.5 or a6 2.5 6 speed. the ratios may help getting the power down too

its running 17" inch wheels on the back but has quite a big tyre so prob equivalient to a 19", as for the weight, its a space frame chassie with a full carbon shell so weighs next to nothing, from memory think its about 780kgs with the current engine/gearbox in

I thought Simon Bainbridge was running a custom Quaiffe box? Or is that centre/front diff?

Doug at MRC has an Ultima in for an RS6 conversion at the moment. You should speak to him
