While looking for a body into which I could transfer parts from an Audi A8 (see Project "S2 with A8 transplant") we (Albie and Ryss) were lucky enough to find a partly complete project car in the form of a 1995 Audi S2.
The history we have is that the car was purchased in 2002 from a scrap yard for R50000 and partly repaired and re-sprayed. The owner spent a lot of money on a OE RS2 front bumper, complete with lights which today costs R19000 as well as 17 inch rims for the car for about the same value, only to discover that the engine had ceased.
Car was then taken to an engine rebuilder who rebuilt the engine. At this stage the owner decided to abandon the car. So after spending the last 8 years in various states of repair we were lucky enough to be able to buy the car in November 2009..
This is how it looks now.

A few parts went missing during the 8 years and these include the rear seat bottom, radiator, auxiliary radiator, some trim pieces etc. Audi Pro is Albie's business so he is an expert at finding Audi parts and will be on the hunt for the missing parts. He has already found a complete set of seats for a S2. which can be used on the two projects still leaving us short of one back seat and a dash for the V8 project .
Things that need to be done are:-
Source an aluminum 62 mm or thicker radiator which will be manufactured locally.
Source rims and tyres.
Replace windscreen.
Replace windscreen wiper bottle.
Replace front rotors and pads.
Induction pipe work from and to the aftermarket inter cooler needs to be sourced.
Fitting of air cleaner box, wastegate, pos ECU etc.
Check wiring and replace odd missing relays.
Tidy up body repairs.
Manufacture new front engine mounting and integrate this with the bumper mounting modification, as the existing mounting points on the engine were damaged. The air con mounting bracket will be modified into a front engine mounting.
Bumper mountings on the OE bumper are not very impressive at all, so we will come up with a better plan, which allows the bumper height to be adjusted. Allowance will be made to ensure that in the event of a accident the chassis rails are not forced apart.
Our intention is not to keep this car, but to bring it back to its original state or as close to its original state as we can and then put it up for sale. However there is a danger that the restoration costs will exceed the market value so some careful budgeting and planning is in progress.
Will keep the page updated and report progress as we go.
Regards
Ryss and Albie
