    Which Engine?

I'll soon be taking delivery of my project UR Quattro. Basically it's a shortened WR with a carbon fibre Sport bodykit. It still has it's original, although tweaked engine giving around 240 BHP............however I want more.

From info. gained on the Quattroforum it will be very expensive to uprate the WR 10 valve. So what I'd like to know is which way to go in terms of engines. I would like somewhere between 350 to 400 BHP.

I know it all depends on my budget, but that aside can you give me some feedback on whether I should go for a 3B, ABY or an RS2 ADU lump?

A guide on prices would also be appreciated.

easiest thing for that spec is a aby engine for in your car, look to spend the following:

1k ish for the complete conversion engine/loom/etc
if your planning on doing the conversion yourself thats good but if you want a drive in/drive out conversion speak to tonks 4x4 on here.
you will need a custom intercooler (speak to allisport)
use your standard gearbox as its strong enough to handle the power.
uprated brakes would be good - porsche callipers etc

for 350-400 bhp with a aby engine you don't need to open it up, just uprate it to rs2 spec for which you'd need:

    exhaust manifold
    turbo
downpipe (or custom 3 inch for max flow)
    injectors
    remap

    think thats the most bits.

You can use your standard wr flywheel but would need an uprated clutch, if you're able to find one a rr/200 20vt 3b flywheel is lighter etc.

Not much difference between aby - adu except price and already got the bits bolted on, easier just to get aby and source the rest.

might have missed something but any questions give me a shout, i'm in the process of doing this.

3b is slightly different in that it has the dizzy and "apparantly weaker internals " but are available cheaper. With the aby you don't have to worry too much about changing rods unlike the 3b which can suffer from spark hop and bend these (steveh know's this all too well)

Its not too hard a conversion to do and will be infinately cheaper than trying to get a 10vt up to 400bhp.

I'd say ABY too....that's the route I've chosen...one day I might even put it in my UR Mainly cos if I upgrade my RS2 I can transfer the parts to the ABY for a performance upgrade.

I'd say ABY (or AAN) too Steve. An ADU would be nice if you can find one, but it would bound to cost more initially, and you may end up replacing/uprating the parts that make the difference anyhow (turbo etc).

ABY or AAN lump is the best place to start.

It allows you to pick your turbo and manifold.

Getting 350-400 bhp will be easy enough your biggest decision will be choice of turbo and depending on the torque output whether to uprate rods

for example buying a 2871 you can keep stock internals and hit 400-450 bhp

Very nice project, did it come without the front or was that included?

ABY with bolt-on ADU bits and a 3B flywheel. Done.
