Do remember stock rods can handle 550-600nm it's just the RS2 turbo is a beast and will bend rods if you let it loose low down.

Can happily run 350-400 on stock rods if it's done correctly.

I remember DOUG had a k26\27 package for sale and he said it would be ok to run with
stock botom end with the right map ,even with 360\380lbft you would be ok and around 400bhp which will do for me .

I had a K26/K27 on stock bottom end, don't know about the 400 bhp unless your pushing near 1.8-2 bar which IMO is too much for the stock bottom end to handle

165k and stock clutch are my concerns as said a number of times. If the engine comes out for a clutch I might as well do the rods and lighten the flywheel and get it balanced... etc... etc...

as it has been said before... rods are cheap today. If all of them are the same weight and you are keeping the pistons, then a zero balanced flywheel is not a bad idea.Perhaps not ideal but it wont be bad at at all. Bram is running his like this, i will be running mine shortly and there is nothing wrong. Peter K. has mentioned to me before that for up to roughly 500hp, no balancing is required if you are keeping the crank as is. Above that its a different story. Having said that we had a few 550/600hp I5 engines in Greece with stock crank and fully replaced pistons/rods/flywheels and had no issues with running.no vibrations and uneven wear.

what about this as an option? (turbo might be a bit over budget)

That addresses none of my concerns though. If I have the funds to go GTxx71 then A) I'd go 30 and 2) I'd not be worried by the £££, oh and III) I'd be tempted by a 3076

Andy, the 3076 option it is better for keep out the danger with hight boost at hight revs for the exhaust gas temperatures?? against the 3071

lower boost in low rpm for win more topend reliability and perfonmance true?

                        and better for Rods

FWIR 3071 surges at lower revs so is boost limited by that but up top both turbos will provide serious torque at higher revs so for safety I'd be looking at a higher end rebuild with proper rods and suchlike.

If you use stock cams it wont be as bad, the 3071 doesn't produce enough torque to test the stock rods.

It has higher bhp but lower torque than an RS2 turbo.

Anyhow stop talking and buy T2andy's setup!!!
