    S2/RS2 re;re;re;rebuild

    Hi guys,

I've been around this forum for some years now,so its about time to introduce myself!

    I am the proud owner of a 1991 S2 coupe since 06/2001.

On february 2002 i decided it wasnt quick enough anymore
So me and my mechanic (former friend) where getting started

    Feb 2002
ADU engine was bought and installed.
After sorting that out,the engine run well for about 10 minutes.
    Faillure; massive crankbearingproblem.
Problem caused by; Former owner repaired broken off oilfilterfitting, repaired well.
But no proper cleaning had been done.
He took the complete engine back, total refund, admitting his mistake.

    Dec 2002
After a long search finaly found engine number 2
Had to drive 750km,s to get it from Berlin.
Complete ADU engine with cockpit, wireingloom,IC and ECU.
Just done 65000km's installed, nice clean engine!

    Feb 2003
Installed sortakinda DTA system used/made by cross/rallye tuner up here in holland.
Engine broke down using a bad setup,2 pistons melted like butter. Engine timing problem due to removed knock controll.

    Dec 2004
    Rebuild engine number 3,
Bought an ABY bottom engine and it was rebuilded with my ADU parts. Installed IMSA spec mahle race pistons, headwork done, solid lifters,S1 spec rallye cams, hardened crankshaft/crank/rod bearings,lightened/balanced flywheel/front poulley.
Still stock RS2 turbo,EM,bigger to come.
6gear s4 CBL gearbox. All ready to go....again.

    Jan 2005
    Gearbox broke down,installed CGR gearbox.

    Nov 2005
Installed Big reds 322mm porsche brakes,RS2 black leather frontseats.
After testdriving my big reds, hard braking from 200km/h-50km/h.
During hard braking i found out the engine quit running.
After letting go clutch,i reconized the bearingsound again
I took apart the engine and found out the bearings where f***** up AGAIN

    Nov 2005
I was sick and tyred of the car and kicked it in the back of the garage.

    Feb 2010
Found the strength(yoga) again to rebuild the engine AGAIN.
Now stock RS2 spec is my goal.

    Parts needed;
bottom engine,RS2 engineloom and RS2 ECU.
    Parts? pm me

    This is my S2 story

    Tjalling.

In england there was only apparantely 300, i've had 6 and imported one a while ago, currently have two of them. They are a nice steering wheel, probably the best you will find.

                  keep it up

even a stock built engine will brake though. it doesn't have to do with it being stock, but the person building it knowing what to do. Apparently there have been mistakes on all occasions and i feel for you for all the lost amount of $$$ for the rebuilds.

I can relate to your continual trials - had similar stories with engine number 2 and am now on engine number 3. Keep it up although sounds like you already have the patience of a saint!

Sounds rough going, well done for keeping the car, I had a run of engine problems resulting in my avant standing for 18 months. It is a great feeling once you get it running again, but you will be listening for every knock and hesitation for a while...
