    Project too long.

Well a few weeks ago I started to pull soome bits off the car. As I have said in previous posts I have owned this car for about 8 years now but had a wire from the water circulating pump fret on the dipstick tube and start a fire in the loom. I was very lucky as I noticed a bit of smoke drift from under the bonnet as I slowed for a set of traffic lights, at first I thought it was steam from the rad but it didn't disipate like steam would so I pulled onto the kerb, lifted the bonnet to see the engine bay foll of smoke, a van had stopped next to me. I asked the passenger if he had any pliers and to my suprise he pulled spme from the glove box. Battery disconnected and the smoking subsided, much to my relief the smoke cleared as I opened the doors and tail gate.
I was moving house at the time so fortunatly the owner of the house let me take it there and put it straight in the garage where it was pusshed out from time to time for a wash and then pushed back in.
About 2 months ago I decided enough time had been lost after talking to a mate who owns and RS4 so the strip down has started.
Here is the car just after I got it.

The start of the trouble, the water circulating pump wire that had fretted on the dipstick tube. The reason was that some lazy ****** had cable tied it to a hydraulc hose instead of pushing the rubber feet into the holes provided in the mounting plate

This is going to take a while as I hate electrics. The Mrs wants to see work on the house progressing, I have 3 race bike engines to build and a season of racing to get on with, so the S2 is an as and when project. Can't wait to drive it again though. But this is where Im upto so far so its a start.

I'm not sure if this one has but I have a mag with a car with the same letters but a few numbers between them. I was told that the car had been a test car for Audi but I have no evedence to support the claim. Would be nice in some ways to give the car some history but then it would also mean it had a hard time in the early part of its life.

There were a few press cars all within a few numbers of each other, H134 to H142 i believe, all emerald. Do a search for 'YVV', there are a few threads with info.
