    turbo - a personal choice.
    clutch(sachs) teppo kalske

chain sprockets are rounded on audi. the are round on 16v vw after about 89. the spiked teeth are on 16v kr engine and usually make the chain rattle.

keep the inlet valves stock. work around the exhaust ports if you are doing stuff.
    Excellent stuff Gaz cheers.

Cool cheers mate, just called GSF for a head set (£67.75) and while I was on phone asked for price of alternator which I remembered was a good few hundred quid, it was £149 so may just get a new one...

Anyone got the OE part number? Mine is only an 80 odd Amp one so I can't get the number from that.

    Mike,
Will drop you an email, but Peter Chimes at Sitrling Audi is superb to deal with, enthusiast himself and insanely helpful. If only Aberdeen was the same.
Hopefully see you next time in mid august

AFAIK 3Bs and therefore pos early AAN had paper, and ABY ADU and more than likely AAN had steel. Mine is one of the last ABYs and has a factory gasket which is deffo not all steel, there are parts where it is starting to erode the asbestos in the water channels.

I got valves from David Falconer Engineering in Aberdeen.

I am gonna order a headset from the local factors (Dingbro) for now for the seals etc and use an OE head gasket and ARP studs. When I get the turbo I will use a comp reducing gasket likely from Doug (MRC).

The main thing is the clutch and rods. I need to give Aron a shout for rods but need to find a UK supplier of SRE clutch as that will be whats holding me up to get it back on road.

I was going to keep it off the road til all the bits were done but all the bits will cost more than i expected!

Oh, my cam gear and crank sprocket are ok, although the harmonic dampener is naffed, although i found one laying in the spare room i must have bought ages ago!

Alright mate, hows the hunt for bits going?

my A4 belt tensioner let go and done 10 valves, a cam pulley and wudruff key also, yours ok?

Euro car parts do valves for about a tenner each if your stuck.

any more news on the steel gaskets? new to audi`s so cant comment but is it just ABY or were they in AAN`s etc?

    Cheers, Sean.

Can't seem to find these, 707 as a part number? Although I read in a for sale thread that 707 is for SM Flywheel?

On the hunt for a good supplier for these in UK?
