Not been ripped off as such, Bargain?? Well that depends on what else you find is wrong with her... (She's worth that in parts plus more I guess... Bet you could cover that with the No plate, alloys & a few bits...)

im gonna take it to QR sport near me soon, they seem to know what theyre doing.

im gonna have them do a full inspection, i still dont know if it's chipped, what the brakes are, what the springs are.

Most are Pretty easy to spot...

Brake upgrade with 996's would have PORSCHE written on them and would be Black Red Or Silver... rather than rust coloured...

ECU upgrade can be easy to spot too... If the cable wraps that hold the ECU big plug in place are intact then its not been upgraded (AFAIK It can only be done with the ECU out) ECU hidden behind the glove box pass side up its ****... so to speak...

Springs; dunno about tel tale signs - So visual inspection I guess...

Finally some good news.

i popped it down to the garage over the road today, they've given her a cautiously clean bill of health (bar the leaking PAS pump, Intercooler air leak, and rear diff bush). i've ordered a new pump, mark h mod kit ) not the diff bush though, does anyone know what the powerflex part is? also is it a big job?

question though, i looked behind the glove box but coudnt see the ecu, is it meant to be in plain sight, or hidden higher up. what i did find was a bundle of wires covered in gaffer tape, all sticky and mingin it was. the car had an amp and sub in it at one point, so i think it's the cables for that.

The ECU is well stuffed away up the back, behind the carpets... The Gaffa tape wire could be all the ECU wiring if its about an 1 1/2" thick...

Do a search on fitting/removing ECU there are a few good threads on the subject...
