Audi 80 2.8-Q to 1.9TDI-Q

Hello everybody

Bought the car something 5 months ago with heavy oil leak in engine and one more leak from brakes
That how it look like when i get it

Previous owners sun cold it BARRY
When i get it home fast look on the car and i understand easy fix
Camshaft sealing was somehow loose i push it back Sorted and then get form Ebay cheap repair kit for rear brake calipers and done that again easy fix coast total 11£

Then when i get it rolling i understand that that 2.8 is not for me mpg was terrible and it wasn't weary fast f for 19mpg
I start to think about engine change ????
2.2t no
2.7tt no
Then i see petrol prices start to climb mega fast i understand need Diesel
2.5AAN good but hard to find and if yes not weary good condition and pricing
I decided to go 1.9TDI 1z engine form easy to get Audi 80 TDI
After some time i found one cheap to buy

second car near house Yea i now there is to many green Audi

All this was made to make good runaround with nice MPG

Between looking for donor car i decided to make my car look better than standard
First was AFK automotive De badged grill
Looked better but still some kinda wrong
From eBay get cheap damaged S2 front bumper repair that smoked lights and looks much better now
Ax yea and nearly forget lowered it for 60/40 Handling much better potholes bigger

80 1.9 TDI into a quattro it will just about the same MPG AS THE 2.8 quattro
better going for the PD as mentioned already

How come? The 1.9 TDI FWD uses around 6L/100km = 47MPG. I doubt it will use more fuel (around 10l/100km = 30mpg like 2.8 would), provided it's using correct diesel quattro box.

Good point, and diff also, otherwise your top speed will be quite low

show me wich 2.8 makes 30 mpg ??? my runs smooth no faults etc goes max 15 and i think my makes max 19

around town yes they are ***** i agree,but my cq 2.8 was doing lows 30s on a run.

1.9TDI has 2500rpm around 100km/h, so basically 01E 2.5Diesel box could be used (0.56 ratio 6th gear) and also 01E V8 box (0.67 ratio 6th gear). Using the V8 box, the rpm at 100km/h should be somewhere around 2500rpm. Also quite possibly some 01A quattro boxes should fit, just the rpm should remain around 2500@100km/h or less in final gear.

BTW 55kW 1.9TD uses the same gearbox as 2.0 66kW petrol.

Zoig can i ask one question ?? How abaut original imobilaiser on TDI ?? i yust removed all wiring and original imobilaiser stayd in car And the question is will engine work withaut it ?? I donth whana leawe it because on TDI its already was making problems

I don't know about the immo, sorry. The TDI I use is from pre immo era.

It's easyer if you give the gearbox code or at least tell the engine of the A4.
