450 Hp best way to go?

Sorry this is another I want loads of power thread I know it's been discussed before and I've read loads but I've read so many different theories I'm back at the beginning again

I decided the UR is coming off the road when the 80's done (hopefully wont be long)
And I'm going to do all the bushes, bearings seals suspension etc and the fit the new to me scat rod engine and play a little

So basically the target is 450 hp. its a 3b in the UR and I want to keep the dizzy (unless that's going to be a real problem)

To be honest I just want it to be over 400hp so if there's going to be a massive difference to get it in to the 450 range I'm not to bothered

So what's the recommendations for turbo, manifolds and injectors? and what have I forgotten about?
I hate lag which is the main reason I've been buying V8's over the last few years

    So please enlighten me

    Thanks

nice wishes .. almost unreal but everything is possible.
    1. you must forget dizzy (only if you like misfires, engine problem and burned pistons ).
my recommendation is (because you have 3b engine) high output coils from 034 (it will be good looking engine, with 7a cam cover) ,and AAN ECU.
GT3071 is good spool turbo to 470hp (maximum), or CT355 ,but your psihical limit of 450hp is not maybe good. because if you spend money on all parts you need. you can also get nice 500hp.
manifold? can stay stock. or you know where to buy exelent EM (wagner, furans) .
    it's all about the money.
    440cc injectors will be fine.
    300kp sensor
    044 fuel pump
and what is much important is fine remap of your ECU..
here on forum you have few very good project with power which you want, so contact guys, they will help you.
    good luck

      Hi,

i drive the 3071/.82 for three years and i don't belive that is it possible to get realy 450-470 PS.

I have spent so many money to get the max. , but when you get 420-430 PS be happy with it.....

For real 450-470PS you must do a 3076 or CT355....

good suggestions the above, but for a cheaper coil option, look at EFIexpress, Marc sells coils which are top of the line and much cheaper last time i looked.

i used 3071/0.63AR in the past succesfuly with aftermarket ECU though, and got very nice spool, and about 425hp as maximum with the turbo not being worked overtime.

You using a stock cylinderhead? As 450+ps is no issue at 1.7-1.8bar with a correctly flowed cyl. Head and good quality intake and exhaust on a 3071. Whereas a stock head at 1.5bar I've seen 420ps on a reliable dyno.

As for the question of which setup for 450hp, all comes down to how deep your pocket is but unfortunately you will have to junk the dizzy for reliability. Then with respect to driveability make your engine as volumetrically efficient as possible within the means of your budget so it produces more power of boost and it will make the power delivery much smoother and pleasant in the lower rpm band.

Heck with rods, stacked headgasket, headwork, ported AAN exhaust and intake manifold I made 420hp on a 30r with .63 backside with a very driveable curve at low boost. So with a 3071 and a nice exhaust mani like the Wagner evo and some more boost it would've been a very entertaining low power motor.

p.s. there is no such thing as 'lag' that's what a gearbox is for, remember were not driving diesels at 1500rpm but petrol engines that are more fuel efficient at 2500-3500rpm than 1500-2500rpm

Or use a k26/27 for 430hp,keeping oem water and oil lines.

I know exactly what you mean about the lag and V8s. The problem is you will never get that low end grunt with a high powered turbo.

I have a CT355, its awesome on fast A roads and motorways, tracks I have yet to do but the spool is nice for that I think.

A GT3071 will not spool that much differently to the CT355 from my experience so for me the CT is a no brainer. Plus its a 500-550 turbo.

However, it all depends on what you want to use the UR for? In the city my car would be useless against anything, I mean an old air cooled beetle would be quicker about the streets! If you want to use it on tight and twisty stuff then forget the power limit you suggest and think more about WHEN the turbo spools. I would suggest an RS2 setup or GT2871 which would give less pub talk power but far more low down. (from what I have read - I have a 355 and 3071 cars here but not a 28 or RS2).

I would also strongly recommend a wagner reverse IM, that will reduce your spool time considerably.

Whatever you decide, BIN THE DIZZY! Don't spend all the cash on the engine just for a spark hop to **** it!

i havent ever come across a 3071, 0.63ar with normal cyl head and cams that will give 450hp on 1.5bar. I had mine going to 2.1 and dropping to 1.85 to give 425, on stock ADU head, serviced(back then) and ADU cams. Obviously i am not a tuner and perhaps a pro tuner could have gotten a few more hp out of it as timing wise there isnt much difference than what i have seen already. If you have seen this 1.5bar and 450hp on a very high compression ratio setup, then it could be possible, but then it would have been knock limited as well.

anyway, 3071/the equivalent of CT355 is the choise i believe

ah i though it said 450
still though 420 is a bit of a high expectation. I would say that the dyno may have something to do with it, or my perfomance box is too strict!

a bit more spec on that engine then if possible? cams? which turbo hotside? and was the boost profile 1.5 steady?

Even on Ross's old coupe Mihnea had managed 425ish i think with 1.8bar boost on a stock cyl head. Cant remember what cams though

I wouldn't waste your money on the coil conversion if your old after around 400 bhp. Change the rotor arm to one of the thinner ones. I know of a ur with a stroker engine in it ,running motec that is working fine on a dizzy and is well over 500bhp.

Thanks for the input guys much appreciated

If 400-420 is do-able with little lag then I'd rather go down that road especially if it will save my wallet a little

The plan was always to tune and supercharge the V8 in the 80 but it would be nice to have the power in the UR also

The ur is just a play car I originally didn't want it to be big power as if I stack it. Its going to be very difficult to get replacement body parts for and I've had it now for 8 years.
