if you could find pistons specifications it would be great! Why dont you use the stock motronic? You want to play with the maps for every race?

What is the max RPM you are running?

motronic is too expensive, maybe 5-10 times and needs time to know how it works. With LinkPlus I had dataloging, antilag, waterspary and more good features. By the way you just plug laptop and make changes, no need to burn images to eeprom. Price is quite low, easy to install and map for every mod.

Sometimes max RPM reaches 8000rpm, but the last 3rd shiftlight flashes at 6800rpm

i thought that maybe there will be problems with short pistons and their reliability in high revs!

maybe fot everyday use it's not good, but for race when you rebuild engine every 1000-5000km it's ok.

I would love to source one of those cranks. They must be available somewhere as std VAG part!

Could our south african friends find some from a transporter dismantler?!

auditude@ the conrods from www.stenparner.se ...are 155mm c/c 20 mm wristpin and 50,6 are for sure the big end bearing...the steelQ 4340 are some cromemollysteel, strong as and the price are with swedish tax,but he draw of the tax in sweden, and you have to pay tax in your country....i think SPM have taken out 1127hp on volvos 4syl (redblock)..... :mischeif: he make also aluminium copy of volvos 4syl...and get 3,2liters on a 4syl volvo....the parts he sell are really cheep have been in sweden, and visit him at home

IF you use this: tall deck block(236mm) 86,4 crank or may 90,something,you may have even LONGER conrods...165mm or even longer than that...then you have high rpm.and you need drysump oilsystem, for sure

Thanks for the reply. However, I'm still a little unclear about that part. There are two prices shown, and it looks like one of them is with the tax and the other one without. It sounds like I don't have to pay the Swedish tax, but I may have to pay import duties here in the U.S.?

                      What does this mean?
                      "Pris:1225:- med. Moms
                      Price:980:-/each (Export.)"

What is "med. Moms"? With tax? Do I only need to be concerned about the 980SEK price?

So, would the 155mm length rods be correct to use with the tall deck block and 95.5mm crank?

I thought the longer VAG type rods, for the tall deck block, were 159mm. Does that have nothing to do with what I'd like to do (use the 2.5l short block with custom rods and pistons in a 20vt)?

Here are the specs for some rods for a 236mm deck:
                      ECR 198 159 EA20 4 Cyl 236mm Block 159mm 610gr 20mm 48mm 3/8"

Well, Marco is using 155.8mm rods in his stroker, so that's pretty close. But apparently the big end diameter is way off. The 48mm shown in the Eurospec link matches the apparent diameter of my crank.

                              From thread http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2561:

Anyway to be 100% sure try finding out through a machine shop. They must have all the specs for any car. If they cannot find RS2 (ADU engine) consider 3B, ABY, AAN and many other AUdi engines have same big end diameter (even TDI ones....)
So the Sten Parmer rods are 50.6mm big end diameter? If they are made for an Audi, like the catalog reads, what's with the size difference? We're not talking about the thickness of the bearing itself, are we?

Is there anyone who speaks both English and Swedish who would be willing to help me purchase the right set of rods, somewhat as an intermediary? I know Richard Tanimura did this for the RS Tuning group buy, but since that had some hiccups I doubt he would be volunteering for such a responsibility any more.
